should i get dumps?

not sure if this is the right section for this, but I'm thinking in a few weeks I may change my exhaust, from the h-pipe back. Right now I have bbk shorties into an offroad h-pipe (2.5 inch i believe) and then stock pipes with flows. I'm thinking the stock pipes may be hurting my performance a little with a 347, but I don't have the money to spend on a full catback right now, so should I get dumps or will it really effect my performance or not? main thing I'm wondering is performance gains on this cause I have driven a car with dumps and it was loud as hell so I'm not sure if I want them or not yet.

I have no idea about the performance gains! For the sound of it, you betcha!! I went through 6 diff exhaust set-ups. In my head I knew what I wanted it to sound like. None of them got me even close. I got the dumps by chance, that was it! Went back the next day to have it finalized. He did just cut it off. I had him + the turn downs. My car sounds great now, to me.

in some states dumps wont pass safety inspection, I do inspections in Texas
hope U are in a state that do not care that would be nice , keep in mind exhaust gases will get in your car siting still and Idling to long

I call bs on the fumes getting in the car, I've had mine for three years and never had a problem. Also why wouldn't they pass inspection if he had cats and the smog/egr all hooked up? I don't have to do emmisions so I have none of that stuff. Further more can I see a pic of the 427 in your stang? :notworthy:

I have dumps and it's exactly the sound I've been looking for....sounds like it's always wanting to just take off, I have loudmouths dumped, alot of people on here dont like them, but I love it

I think you read that wrong, its a 347...
also, im going to start looking at videos to figure out what they sound like on other stangs for a muffler choice. I would still like to know about performance gains, if its worth it or not since I'm a college student and money is somewhat tight. I'm going to do some suspension work and maybe a paint job this summer after the engine is running properly.

They won't pass inspection is some states, mine being one, because the exhaust is supposed to exit after the passenger compartments.

I say dumps! My Borla's are dumped. Sadly they're still not that loud compared to some, but they sound amazing. Much better then with the old tailpipes.

I was tlkin to 94-427... The sound is awsome dude you should get them, JBA equal shorties, OR H, and spintech glasspack turndowns is what I got on my 347 and it sounds like a beast. :headbang: Didn't know about the passenger compartment thing good info.

i have a custom exhaust that was on the car when i bought it. Divorced pipes, flowmaster 40s, and dumps. its loud as hell and sounds like a freakin V10.
i would THINK: dumps = less bends = less backpressure = more power, but im sure someone with more experience will jump in
