Figured it'd be about time to make a strictly drift pictures thread after this last event. I couldn't find my go pro mount, WHICH I JUST NOW FOUND, so I didn't get any video this event sadly. HUGE increase in front end grip so I did A LOT better this time around.

Here's a couple old ones first...

This picture demonstrates why there is a need for camber...

And why I'm trying to get rid of body roll....

And...

Watch around 2:00 :)

Anyways, last couple shots were only from sunday and there was A LOT of media there, so I'm sure there's more coming. I'll update this thread when I can!

Nice to see someone using a sn95 for drift. Very nice pics.

As a side note, I'm jealous of your sunroof.

Nice! Can't see vid???

I like the gold wheels. Do the walls make you nervous? We run a NASCAR track a couple times a year, and I absolutely get insta-pucker when I start to drift close a wall.

They're definitely different than a flat track because the high speed turns like to spit you out up high since the track is no longer helping you turn. The biggest thing with walls is just being comfortable and knowing what your car is going to do. The biggest key is to drive straight, don't try to fight it.

I don't drift, but I race in a Whelen Series NASCAR division and the walls terrified me at first, especially since we have to fix our own cars lol.

To OP though, that video was really cool, nice how you just tossed it in there!

get yerself a tacklebox for all the gopro parts you need. I looked at camera bags but for these cameras all the little add-ons fit pretty well in the small dividers in the tackle box. After winning their sweepstakes, and already having a hero2, I had to get a med/large sized box. Sucks when you can't find that one little piece....

I think a lot of it is that drifting didn't originate here so it's taken a while for the muscle car crowd to join in, and the import crowd to try out muscle. That and our mustangs aren't set up great from the factory for drifting. Looots of body roll, granted some springs/shocks goes a long way. I think a panhard bar would help a lot also.

Shoot, we can slide as well as half the 240's out there. Everyone acts like 240's are gods at drifting but the ones that are actually good have lots of suspension work and at least a turbo thrown on there, if not a full swap. My car lowered on junk and with 4.10s seems to hang the rear out just as well, but my crappy suspension keeps me from keeping it going and staying in it because it's not the easiest to control. If I had as much in my suspension, I have no doubt the Mustang could do wonderful.

Thanks guys, glad everyone likes! I love how the bullitts came out, a lot of people seem to like it as well, wanted something a little different.

At my first event I knew the walls were there, and I was a bit nervous coming into it but after getting on the track I pretty much forgot about them. Last event the scariest part of the track is the big infield bank which has a wall with it the whole way, and then if you let off at all and your car snaps out of drift, you go into the outside wall on the main part of the track. One mustang guy actually did exactly that, I've seen a Miata fly off the bank, and one guy rolled his car last year actually. Dunno why, but it doesn't phase me a bit. I scared one of my friends at the last corner wall because I didn't throw it hard enough and just ended up going straight towards the wall instead of back into drift, but that's what clutch kicking is for! The last corner is fun, I was aiming for a wall tap but I at least got some noodle haha. It's nice they put those up for the guys who want to try a wall tap but don't want to damage their cars.

Here's the guys video. And don't feel too bad, he's almost done with the rebuild.

And on that note, there's been A LOT of more interesting cars out this year. My SN95, I've got a buddy with a new edge who's got a really nice setup, a couple S197's, at least two fox body's, one guy showed up in a Z06, a lot more BMW's and such.... nice to see the scene changing a bit.

I'm surprised people havn't taken so kindly to Mustang's for drifting actually, considering my car is pretty bar bones stock, I think it does ridiculously well. I was having problems with my tires catching from a lack of camber in my first couple events, just the springs made an insane amount of difference at this last one. They can definitely be setup properly for drifting.

I think my biggest problem with our cars with any type of drifting is how the rear end binds up and then POW you're spinning lol. It's not the steadiest thing in the world, but as I said earlier, I think a panhard bar would solve this and really make the car a lot more predictable. Our cars aren't really that bad though ;)

I disagree on that. I've driven a few of my buddy's car, and in slide my car is very smooth and predictable. That might just be the smooshy Monroe shocks though.
