I have some parts that a member wants to trade me a brand new Spec Stage 3 clutch/pressure plate for. I have a couple of questions:

i know this strong of a clutch is not neccesary for my application. I have no more than 340 rwhp. but, will i encounter any problems using such a heavy duty clutch? If so what problems would i run into

I have heard people talk about "chatter" with the Spec clutches. what does this mean?

Please give me all of your opinions and all of the info you know about this clutch :TY:

well, i dont a lot of reading on the clutch, and i guess the problem i would have is my engine doesnt have enough power to slip the clutch at all, so in a hard shift, i could easily blow my stock T5. also, even if i didnt blow the tranny, it would be very jerky becasue there will be no play in the clutch.

is this about right?

I definitely wouldn't use that clutch regardless. Spec clutches don't always chatter either, I think it has more to do with driving style and installation then the actual clutch.

i think i have decided not to use it.

i'm looking more into the Centerforce and Ram clutches, they seem to be better for my application

How do you like your Stage II?

I have a 3+ with the billet aluminum fly wheel, and love it. 3+ is much more streetable than the 3. Thats my .02.

I love my Stage 2 but in a lot of stop and go traffic my leg definitely starts getting tired. It's never chattered and once you learn to drive it it's very manageable. Ram says their clutches chatter so I stayed far away from them. Next clutch I may try is the Centerforce DFX, supposed to be hella strong with the light pedal of the regular DF.

I'm also looking into the centerforce. the spec 2 sounds good too though, i have read a lot of good reviews on it, and it seems to handle my power level plus some, but its still able to be slipped and doesnt chatter

since i wont be doing the trade on the stage 3 it will be another month or 2 until i get my clutch now

Yeah most people with Spec clutches really like them, some have bad luck but that's expected. I'd say either of those clutches are a good choice, one thing i liked bout the Stage 2 is it's rated to 520tq so hopefully will be enough when I add the KB.
