What is generally mistaken is the notion that it regulates temperature. I suppose by extension one could say regulating water flows has an affect on engine coolant temperatures but only between the closed and fully open positions. Installing a 180* or a 160* or none will not address an overheating (temps above 225*) issue. This post explicitly dealt with an overheating problem that peeps wanted to correct by installing a differently rated T-stat or removing the T-stat altogether.</p></blockquote><p></p>
