Im anxiously awaiting for the 94/95 On3performance turbo and will be installing one in my 94Gt when it comes out. My question is, I will be installing the turbo on a stock long block with GT40 lower and cobra upper. Would the TFS state 1 cam benefit in anyway or is the stock cam generaly better for my stock heads?

The cam will benefit you but not in a major way. I see that you are keeping the engine of the car mainly stock so you can keep the cam stock too. If you want a nice little lope than you can put a cam on it.

doubt it'll lose any power, but i dont know the specs, you want a wide LSA with boost since the more lobe seperation (overlap) the more boost is lost straight out the exhaust.

stock cam with stock heads will make good power.... once the heads are swapped out for aluminums you really are past the point of a N/A cam and a turbo cam grind would be alot more beneficial.

so i vote stock cam with stock heads, turbo cam with HCI, but no N/A cam.... one less thing to worry about with the tune anyways...

If you are wanting to run a different cam with the stock motor I would go with and F-303 cam. Granted there are alot of better cams out there but in a stock style application it's a very streeetable cam. The stock cam would do fine as well.

sooo, do you guys think if I go with my stock heads, stock cam, and 8.5 compression shortblock, would that be safe to run about 10psi on a conservative tune? and still make over 400hp?

Im trying to make 400hp with this kit, but I want it to be very streetable and reliable. I may be a pain in the rear end, but thats what were here for right, to ask questions? Thank guys I appreciate your patience.

You can make over 400 on a completly stock motor, with the low comp setup you will be able to make the same power the motor will be capable of holding more but at 400 on a modest tune you will have longevity.

I've always heard that a cam in a boosted application will give you a performance increase. If the rest of the engine is staying stock for now though you might as well keep the stock cam, otherwise you'll have to get into valve springs, pushrods, etc. to support the larger lift.

Stock cam is the best cam you can use with a turbo kit, without getting a custom cam.

prolly keep stock cam untill you get heads if you decide you want to somewhere down the road. that way you dont have to tear her open more then once for pushrods, valves, rockers and so forth

what about all the available boost cams?

:dontknow:

Every where I read, unless you invest in a custom cam...the stock GT cam is the best for a Turbo'd Mustang.

idk I find that hard to believe, keeping the valves open longer would only increase the effectiveness of boost, granted you'd probably want a low overlap.

you are right, almost ALL the turbo grinds will make power over the stock cam, with custom making even more than an OTS. turbo cars need some overlap and alot of exhaust duration to reduce lag (more exhaust flow to get things going). it really depends on the application though, stock heads, though like i said, the exhaust flows CRAP so going with a turbo grind is pretty much useless, and the stock cam will have alot less driveability issues and likely make more power under the curve.

Hell I'll try it for kicks I'll use both an F-cam and a stock cam and see what the dyno numbers are.

Stock cam has minimal overlap, which is what you want with a turbo.

You can do better than a stock cam like a custom..especially for increased lift, but the main reason people stick with it is you can make enough power to split the block in half, you still have stock drivability, and you don't have to buy a new cam.

put the turbo kit on first then worry about it. im sure the valve springs are weak and wouldn't like a cam change let alone a cam change and boost against the face of the intake valves

enough said right there...... until the bottom is built and the heads are swapped a cam swap is not needed...
