I'm going to be swapping in a 4v mark 8 motor and i would like to make it at least a 302 or a little higher... ??? whats involved ? any sites you guys could point me at?? thanks

Mine came from Livernois, you can also get them from D.S.S., Coast High Performance, VT, quite a few places. The crank is gonna set you back the most, follwed by the pistons. The only way to get it done cheaply is find it used.

The crank is just an offset ground 4.6 crank. Therefore the rod journals are smaller, so unique rods. The pin sit's further up inside of the piston, so unique pistons. Maybe in 10 year's stroker kit's will be cheap like 5.0's, but right now they are as expensive as the old 317 kit's were.

so i need to stay away and spend my money on something cheaper... b/c i don't think it might be worth the money vs power gained.

Pretty much, I was doing a rebuild anyway, so it was only a few hundred more, might as well right? Lol.

That thing is pretty low on power, even for stock stroke. Anyhow, I post in Void's other thread, I don't expect mine to go past 50k, so if you're after longevity, it's not really the option you want.

Dalamar also runs a stroker, but his stayed N/A so he can make a more fair comparison, maybe he'll chime in. I'm happy with mine, very nice torque curve on it, broad powerband.

IMO-Strokers are a waste of money for a 2V unless you're supercharged.
I've got dyno sheets at home that are proof that a stroker isn't a good investment for a 2V.
If you want more displacement,Big-Bore is the way to go,unless you're going all out with a SC-then it's a 324ci Big-Bore stroker.

modular strokers are notoriously high-maintainence, low-reliability. there is a wealth of information out there on why this is the case.

I looked at doing it a few years ago and after checking around i chose to stay with a stock displacement rebuild, i may however go big bore in the future.

Don't believe the hype on the initial poorly built strokers that had problems.

Cost - depends on your goals. if yoru rebuilding it anyway, it's minimal.
total rebuild for NA stroker - wouldn't advise.

Main reason I like it is a better torque curve.

Big bore is better for NA power, and costs about 3x more.

And, I am not staying NA. :)
