Ok i've been pretty busy this weekend doing random things and got my gauges in and the temp gauge wired up but i still have to do the oil pressure. I want to ditch the stocker all together and have the stock gauge read zero, i really don't care.

But my question is: Do I have to drain the oil? LOL... I have searched and searched on the internet and its probably one of those questions that is so easy its stupid, i just want to get all that i need from the autoparts store before coming home to work on it...

NOPE! Pull the stocker and slap the autometer in! All the oil will stay in the pan (lower than the sending unit port)

I hate the Mech Oil one.... Stupid oil gets all over... I should get a SS line instead of the Copper one though... :tickedoff:

How long of a ss line you think you would need? 4ft, 6ft? It could get quiet expensive...

easier said than done, i have given up for now... i can't get the stocker out, no way in hell. Ive tried every angle and every extension every swivel extension that i have. I even went to advanced and bought a oil pressure sensor removal tool and that can't even get it. I finally got the tool on the sensor and some gorilla from the factory must have put it on so i cut my losses and just gave up.

Then by all means give me tips/pointers.

If the 2 little lines coming from behind the oil filter arent in my way its the damned compressor. And im not about to take off the whole front end of my car for a damned sensor...

the easiest way to get to the sending unit is to remove the oil filter, disconnect the main battery, and remove the ground strap right by the sender. Once that is done it is cake.

socket, extension, and a swivel. oh and i always use 1/2 drive stuff, just in case it likes to be stubborn.

I will try to remove the oil filter but the biggest thing in my way is the AC compressor and the damned 2 lines coming from behind the oil filter. I used to think i had small hands but the GF was the only one able to fit her hands in there to get the socket on, lol..

I finally got to it with the extension and the swivel but damn im kinda scared ill braek something cause a gorilla put it on from ford.

Ill try to find time to run to home depot and get a reducer though but i doubt ill get enough leverage with a 1/2 socket :dunno:

DO NOT use a reducer. Use a 1/2 drive ratchet, socket, extension and swivel. using reducers is how bad things happen, or tools get broken.

you will be fine using a 3/8" drive socket. I use a 3/8 drive 12mm to torque my driveshaft bolts and that is to around 100 ft-lbs.

i just did mine and i had no problems at all, i think its a 1 1/8 socket, if you want to run a dual setup all you need is some 1/4 brass fittings, 2 straight , 1 tee fitting, 1 45 fitting and a 1/4-3/8 reducer i guess thats what i did. i didnt want a dead gauge.

You CAN get away with 3/8 no prob, but when he says that he cant get enough leverage on it with the 3/8, he should bump it up to the 1/2 and it should pop loose.

I got mine with a wrench - I don't remember the size, but it was big. Once it was loose, I unscrewed it the rest of the way by hand.

I removed the oil filter, and unbolted the ground wire and standoff from the timing cover to make more room. It sucked, but I eventually got it. I wasn't able to get a socket on it either.

Oh, and I use a mechanical gauge with a copper tube on the black car. The silver car uses braided stainless lines.

shit i didn't see you got a cobra....the oil cooler might cause a lil clearance issues but you can remove it if need be.
