stupid thermostat question

wich way does the thermostat go in. spring into the intake or thermostat housing?

so spring into the intake. thanks. had it out for a while and had a brain fart. the manual I have doesn't say, just says to pay attention to how it came out.

the on that was in it did not have that wonderful arrow. thanks just had a blond moment

There should also be a pin size dimple or hole that indicates the top of the thermostat. I was told to make sure it was at the 12 o'clock postion. My mechanic told me why and it made sense but I can tremember what exactly the reason was. Maybe someone elso in here knows or has heard the same. Then again I could be way off.

that small dimple is a air bleed valve that should be a 12 oclock to help bleed air pockets

Thanks for chiming in. I knew I remembered him saying something about that but could not remember the exact reason. Just glad I wasn't putting out false info.
