I have a 2000 Roush Stage 1 so pretty much a GT with Roush stuff. I have the Roush CAIT and BKK 70mm throttle body with magnaflow x with two cats. The CEL is on of course and I was thinking about buying a SCT Extreme 8900 touchscreen but everything that I'm reading says to only expect about 11hp gain. I can't see spending $800 to turn off a light and get 11 horses. Can any of you guys help me out with other pro's to purchasing this thing? I definitely want to get my car tuned but I can go to the local dyno shop and and pay $600 and get to keep the tuner and have them write the tune for me. Any advice is welcomed. :dontknow:

why buy the $800 one when you can buy the regular one from american muscle for $369 and get free mail order tunes for life?

Hand-held tuners are limited, seek out a local performance shop if you have one, they can just use laptop software and tune your computer.

their isn't anything wrong with a handheld, but if i was going to tune i would just have someone reflash the computer and do it based on your needs and what you want out of the car.

The American muscle deal is OK, however I will NEVER recommend someone get a tune from a place where they don't put the car on the rollers and tune it right there. making a canned tune from "mods" out of a data base, isn't right. Its stupid its wasteful. buy the tuner from your local performance shop, pay them to tune it and go home with the right stuff.

That's what I was thinking. There is a shop somewhat close to me that does that. It's like $631 and that includes the tuner. They tune the car there and I keep the tuner. Will be going in a week or two and will post Dyno results here. Thanks everybody.

thats a pretty good deal.

i only suggest a mail order tune since the mods are very minimal.

i recommend can tunes for basic mods and turning off CELs. only other time i recommend can tunes is to get a vehicle running to limp it to a DYNO. otherwise, its a waste of cash.

Thanks guys. My car only has a few bolt on mods. I forgot to mention the matching BBK plenum to the TB but that's it. I will probably go with the tuner for now and as I add more performance equipment will take it to the dyno. Thanks again.
