please move this to the right forum.

Well i took the car to the track for the first time.
96 GT vert 5 speed
Mods done to the car is H pipe, flowmaster cat back. Also Nitto DR 275/40/17

Check engine light is on from the no cats in the hpipe. Is this hurting?

Ran the car 3 times
70*
Reaction time .2460 .1658 -.0420

60ft time 2.31 2.31 2.21

1/4 ET 15.34 15.24 15.03

1/4 MPH 91.62 92.40 90.75

tire pressure 27 27 23

My Question is is that normal times. What can i do to make it better? besides engine upgrades.
i have PI heads and intake also 8psi blower just not on yet.

For a heavy vert those times arent too bad, but its OBVIOUS that your 60ft time is killing you. You can be SOLIDLY in the 14's with a better short time, you need to knock .2 tents off that at least if not .3 or .4 THEN you will be good to go.

I don't know about DR's, but I dropped my tire pressure down to 15psi on my goodyear 245-45-17's and got my best run right after that (8.74 in the 1/8).

Maybe drop the tire pressure and try to come out of the hole at a higer rpm?

See how you dropped your tire pressure 4 psi and blew .10 off your 60'? You're onto something there....

Yea i know the 60ft is hurting me i should be able to get it into the 2.0.

I would have lowered the psi more but i was walking around and looking at other DR and the pressure was up to what looked like 30 psi on all of them. but i was going to lower it more on the next run but didn't get it chance to run again.

i was launching at about 2500. next time i will try a little higher.

another thing this car feels like it falls on its face at about 5000 RPM what are other people shifting at?
What is the torque curve like on this NPI.

When you get heat in the tires the pressure does increase slightly, higher ambient temps will do it too.

NPI car's pretty much fall off at around 4800 to 5200. I wouldn't run it any higher than 5500 for a shift point. Try slipping the clutch at 3500, or if you think you can hook, dumping it at about 5k, that used to work best for me.

Yea i think i am going to lower the psi in the tires to about 15.

yea i was shifting at about 5500 the first run but it seemed like it was taking forever to get there from 5000. but after the first run i was shifting at about 5200.

i will bring the rpms up a little more at first also.

my goal next time i go is 14.7

think i can hit it??????

With just the exhaust mods you have, along with the weight of the vert, I think your times are pretty much right on. As others have said, looks like a little time can be gained out of the 60', but on street tires, I would be a little concerned about going as lower than you alread ran at 23lbs. I hadn't seen anyone run that low when I went to the track on street tires, DRs yes, but not standard street tires.

Shift points definately make a difference with times. I would try 5500 1-2nd, then ~5200 (or less) on the rest since you have all NPI components for now, but you can play/adjust as you try different shift points and get feedback from your times. If you keep a pen with you, you can write down some notes on the timeslips or a notebook with regard to shift points and launch RPM so you can see positive or negative gains .

yea i have DR and i am going to drop the pressure.

I think thats a good idea to take a pen and write the stuff down.

Also i think the shifts point at what you said is what i did on the 2nd and 3rd runs

anyone from Mi want to go to the track????

Also when i was there there was no sn95's besides 2 cobras but no GT's
Whats up with that???
