So one thing led to another and i have the top of the motor apart, cam coming out today. Im looking for some good heads and a cam that will work well with the upper and lower intake off on an explorer. (I already have the upper and lower). I also have an Anderson Ford Motorsports power pipe with a MAF calibrated for 30lb injectors. (i have the set of injectors too) So basically what heads/cam combo do you guys recommend for my setup? (everything to do it complete, rocker arms, push rods, etc...) I am looking for an agressive cam, but something streetable. I take the car to the track a few times a year, but it is a street driven car.

Other mods: steeda tri-ax short throw, MAC short tube equal lengths, Pypes exhaust, Aeromotive adj. fuel pressure regulator, bigger throttle body, bumped timing, subframe connectors.... you know all the usual b.s. lol

This has been covered a few times before, but AFR 165s or TrickFlow Twisted Wedge heads would be a good choice... If you don't have the
money for those, then a set of ported GT40s with upgraded valve springs would be alright... As far as cams go, the Steeda 19 cam is supposed
to be one of the few cams that doesn't give our factory computers too much trouble.. Or you could look into a custom cam by Ed Curtis, but that
may be more money than you are wanting to spend, not sure. Either way you will want to look into having the car tuned after all is completed.

ive heard good things about afr's and the steeda cam as well. How much HP do you think ill make with the afr's and the steeda cam with the explorer intake and the power pipe and larger injectors? Keep in mind the stock bottom end

i would recommend a set of afr 165 heads and a custom grind cam... i am running the steeda cam, gt-40x heads, cobra intake and only put 260 hp down... i switched from a bbk ssi intake and f cam to a cobra intake and steeda 19 cam, and lost almost 20 hp...

just my 2 cents...

If you call Ed Curtis, he can set you up with all of those in a camshaft kit. :eek:ccasion14:

I have the AFR 165s, Steeda #19 cam and the Cobra upper/lower intake and it seems to run pretty well. I've never been dyno tuned though so i can't give you a number unfortunately.
