In first gear, when I am driving the tranny whines, and the between shifting gears (any gears) it whines for about a second and then it goes away. Just wanting to know if I should be looking for a new tranny or maybe something else to look for?

I'd drain it and put some fresh fluid in and see if that helps it out. If it's still shifting smoothly then I would just wait and see honestly. Some trannies just whine. My 3550 sounds like a distant police siren sometimes but its just fine.

If you're still bugged out by it then now would be a great time to upgrade to a T-56.

Any GM dealer has synchromesh in stock at all times. I always get it there. You can sometimes find fynchromesh(fake synchromesh) at pep girls, autozone etc...

But for a T-5 or T-45 ONLY use regular Dextron/Mercon ATF.

Why is it not good to run syncromesh in a T5? I just put some penzoil syncromesh in my 94 cobra with a T5, and it seems to be running just as it was before I changed the oils.
