When My T5 started to leak I pulled it out and torn it apart myself, checked everything in side, cleaned it up and then resealed it with the orange silicone. I think thats the high temp stuff. It has worked perfect for me, cause I have not had it leak at all now. So the bottom of the stang looks clean and not greasy from the fluid. I have went through like 4 T5 trans. First one locked up, second one popped out of first, third one lasted 6 months and locked up, fourth one I think I am on now lol. I noticed it was getting low on fluid and took care of the leak. Dont know why they like to leak but they do. Its not your bellhousing, the shaft is just fine, if there was a bunch of grease where the pilot bearing goes, then that would cause the tranny to not want to go back in at all. I had that happen before from my friends dad installing the pilot bearing on mine and then my friend and I had a 3 hour fight to get the tranny in place. The only difference between the T5's for the Cobra/Gt and 3.8 is the gearing in them. I do not think the input shaft cover is longer but it possibly is too. Everything else is pretty much the same between them though.
