Tweecer ??

Just curious about the Tweecer setup for those who are running it. In a couple years I plan on getting a new motor and was curious if many professional tuners out there use the program. I was thinking of getting one now to cure my current issues but if I am going to need to get a stand alone system for the new motor, I will probably just go with the basic Tweecer. Any insight will be helpful. Thanks guys!!

Well I would look into Moates on our Sponsor's section. Also, getting your car professionally tuned will help a lot esp if you go aftermarket engine components. There is only so much one can do without having all of the proper tools.

I would have to agree, the PMS is FAR more user friendly, but thats about the only advantage over the tweecer IMO, tweecers are cheaper but have a steep curve for learning. I have a tweecer RT for sale if your interested

Thanks for the info guys. In a couple years I plan on dropping a blown 331 in the 95, till then I need some flexibility to turn off the egr and fix these darn idle issues once and for all.

Well you cant turn off the EGr with a pms, but you can with a Tweecer as mentioned the tweecer is'nt a 5 minute learning experience.

The quarterhorse by moates is even less expensive than a tweecer....yet does the same stuff. It can be had for under $200. You can get the quarterhorse, software(not necessary to pay for it, but it does help), and a wideband for the price of a new tweecer.

While true, there are other tricks you can do to trick the computer about the EGR. The PMS can tune just as well and much quicker.

Who here is saying outside of price, they are the same? Thats wrong. The PMS has built in rpm window switches, boost relative fuel/spark tables, and standalone operation for what it does. By the time you build the same package with a tweecer, you'll be at the same price probably.

For the price you could go MegaSquirt full standalone. ww.diyautotune.com the kits are about 350 or so, and use all stock sensors minus the MAF. wont need that heated wire thingy anymore. This is the direction I am going soon. plus it plugs into your stock harness with the connector.


From experience, the Tweecer works alright on FOx mustangs, but it kinda sucks on the later cars as it seems to "fight" the stock computer. same with the PMS, but it goes full standalone when you floor it.

i'm a fan of buying something once. if you plan to go stand alone, then do that now and not mess around with the tweecer.

I like my PMS.

I completely agree with the above post. dont go the round about way I did, Tweecer, PMS, AEM EMS (dont get me started, POS) then eventually MegaSquirt 3.

From experience, the Tweecer works alright on FOx mustangs, but it kinda sucks on the later cars as it seems to "fight" the stock computer. same with the PMS, but it goes full standalone when you floor it.

That is why there is a PMS for 87-93 and a PMS for 94-95. Different PCM, Different PMS Tuner.

What about chipping it until its motor time? I need to figure tis damn idle out and would rather just dump the egr since I pulled all the smog stuff out already.

A car that is driven on the street and is not raced...I would leave the egr on there.

Why would you leave EGR on?

And FYI if you get code 332 the computer eliminates the EGR function.
