hey guys, I have a 98 v6 5 speed with about 158k on it and its in GREAT shape. My buddy has a 97 explorer v8 with about 200k and is

basically giving parts away.

I was wondering if there are any parts on a 97 explorer 5.0 that would be good for my 98 v6 (like the rear end gears for instance)

I have no idea what the gearing is on his but if there is anything that would be considered an upgrade, I could get it for next to nothing

(excluding the motor b/c he has already promised it to someone else).

Thanks for any input.

The rear end will work but it requires cutting and welding in order for it work.

I misread the OP when I made my first post. I thought you were talking about the rear end as a whole but you were just talking about the gears.

Based off my knowledge of Explorers (which is next to nothing), they use a 31 spline 8.8 rear end. So you would not be able to use the gears in your stock 7.5 rear end.
