i have a 94 gt that i am putting a few things on. i might get some gt40 heads and i might leave my e7 heads on or possibly port them. i will be putting on an edelbrock performer 5.0 intake manifold, and crane cam valve springs(part#99838-16). i have an e cam in the car now. i was just wondering if the 1.7s would work well. i know it would sound great with them. next year i hope to build my 351 but i would like some more power to beat up on some imports this year.

Well basically you're putting a bigger cam with more duration by doing that. Maybe a tenth or two in the 1/8th mile.

the rockers i got are stud mounts. i read where the heads would have to be machined to use studs. is this true and what size do i need?

check and see if someone makes a stud mount conversion kit, but be aware your valve covers will not fit, and when you get bigger valve covers, your intake elbow will sitting ontop of the valve covers, so you'll need a spacer. if you cant find a conversion kit, then heads will have to be machined to accept the new studs. best bet is to find someone who has factory cobra 1.7s and trade for the stud mounts. or just go all out and get a new set of heads already set up for studs, lol.
