I recently bought a 97 Cobra that already has a Vortech V1 S-Trim installed. I noticed that the belt was getting eaten up and realized that the blower pulley is way to close to the alternator, below are some pics:

As you see the belt jumped a rib which is causing it to get eaten up. Is the pulley suppose to sit that close to the alternator? It spins freely so I'm a little lost. If it's not supposed to sit that close, what can I do to space it out a little further?

You could make a spacer prolly but what I would do is grind the fins down on the alternator. I would take te casing off and grind it down where you see the wear marks. It's only touching a little bit.

I don't know anything about that blower, but in your first picture it is easy to see that they don"t line up, unless the pic is playing tricks on my eye. Have you checked out the mounting brackets etc for obvious signs of washers or spacers missing? Is the pulley square to the others ( is the blower shaft parallel to the crank, alt, P/S, etc?)

Also looks like you may have a 8 rib pully setup and a 6 rib belt or they are just out of alignment enough that the belt is walking its way off of the blower causing it to be eaten away by the alternator.

if you do the 8 rib swap you may also have to flip the blower pulley around. lathe 4.12 mm off longer side. mine wouldnt fit on the shorter side.
