My car is at the shop right now getting 4.10s installed, suspension work, and Sct dyno tune. Just got a call from
the mechanic and he says that he had to take off the side exhaust to install the MM Rear lower control arms. And
Now there is no way for him to put the exhaust back on because the control arms are alot larger and the side exhaust wasnt installed
properly from one of the mustangs previous owners.

He is going to put the exhaust out the back now, but I now will have side exhaust rocker panels with holes in the sides where
the side exhaust tips used to be. I was wondering though, for those of you who know how much would it cost
to get the original side panels bought and put back on? Rought estimate, Im gonna call my shop and ask but I thought i would get some input first. Thanks!

Why not just have an exhaust shop fab up new pipes to keep your side exhaust, I gotta think that that would be cheaper then to have your guy fab up a new exhaust that comes out the rear plus the cost of new sideskirts and paint. :dunno:

Have a good shop bend it up. it's not the type of thing I would spend money on, but I'd rock it if I had it.

Ok maybe im stupid but why could they not put lower control arms on because of side exhaust? The side exhaust doesn't run anywhere near the rear axle??

Well the exit of the muffler is just ahead of the arm, so i'm not sure. at any rate, I would just get it bent back up to fit the rocker's, if you want to keep them

Thanks for the replys, Are you interested in the exhaust itself or the Side Rocker panels?

Also, The mechanic whos working on it says that it was all put together wrong, and that with the swaybars installed and rear lower control arms hes saying that it is impossible for him to put the exhaust back on. He had to take it off to install my rear lower control arms and sway bars. I am going to contact him tomorrow and see what he thinks about trying to get the exhaust to work but when i originally spoke to him he was pretty insistent that the side exhaust wouldnt work unless I pay quite a bit to get new parts needed.

He doesnt actually do the exhaust work himself he sends the mustangs to exhaust shop in the area he works with. I trust that he knows what hes talking about, hes runs one of the best mustang shops in the mid west. I will talk to him as soon as I can and tell you guys what I figure out. Thanks for all the help!

I've got the perfect solution, let him run the pipes out the back for now but then have an exhaust shop fab up dumps that will run out the sides and fill the holes in the side skirts! :TY:

what do you exactly mean by making them dump out the sides? My car is at Alternative Auto in Michigan, its one of the best Mustang shops in michigan however, he gets his exhaust work done at another exhaust shop near by that he has a relationship with. I need to know quick though , because I believe the car is getting dropped off their today or tomorrow. The side pipes have been CUT off. And he said the exhaust shop will need to decide if my mufflers need to be replaced. But the thing to remember is that it was installed completely terrible, so they are going to be correcting the problem as much as they can and he explained to me that the best route would be to make it run out the back of the car. Dont get me wrong I love the side exhaust but it doesnt seems like theres much choice.

But describe to me what exactly you were talking about, about taking it to another shop and getting it to dump out the sides?

Any shop should be able to bend the pipes so they come out the side, even if they have to start at the mid-pipe and go back, it's still a non issue for a muffler shop, they could bend up pipes to come out the quarter panel vents if you wanted to.
