I've been kind of hush about it the last week or so. But in the last week I've successfully driven the fastback around and put some miles on it. After driving it, I've come to a horrible realization that I really don't care for it. I love to work on it, love to play with it and just modify stuff. But beyond that, I drove the car 15 minutes and I was ready to go home already. Upon further investigation, I realized what I really wanted, another fox. So after 18k dollars and a years worth of work, I have a car I don't really care to drive and a whole lot of money tied up. Hows that for disappointing? Whats worse is that folks at work look at me like i'm crazy, most of the older fellows, 40-60, just shook there head and almost completely stopped talking to me. Oh well. Thought yall may find it interesting. It's a novelty act but beyond that, it's more a pain in the ass to drive then anything. I still like the car though.

Sexy fastback, I wouldn't daily drive it, I would drive it on nice days/weekends though! Thing about an old car like that steven is that you don't DD it as it loses it's "special" value then. I miss driving my Mustang already and it has only been like 4 weeks now since it was crashed, just makes it that much better when i can drive it again

.it happens, if they were as great as todays cars, wed all be driving them, and none of us would have car payments.
i like taking the turbo coupe out, and about once every 4 months or so, ill test drive the 65, but they are just old cars, and they ware you out just driving them... hell im spoiled, i think my 00 is a primitive car, i was super tired of driving it when i took it on a 5 hour trip (one way) this past weekend, it had none of the creature comforts, that im used to in the avalanche...
it sucked, cause i kept looking for navigation on the dash, and the volume buttons on my steering wheel, also, i forgot how loud my car was, and kept trying to turn it down with the stereo volume haha.

If it was a 1969, I'd take it off your hands right now. I'm looking for a nice '69 to resto-mod.
I remember my old SN being a bear to drive; no a/c, power-steering etc. I almost lost my current GF when we first started dating because the thing had no a/c(in FL its much-needed). I do know how you feel, I was kinda happy to relegate the old SN to track duty and get my current one.

Definitly dissapointing man... Id say there are alot of us who want that type of car but have never driven one. And if we did, we might not like it. Atleast you could get a good return for your car now. Probably more than enough for a nice fox and have money left over.

I totally understand your frustration. They were top of the line when they were new, now we drive them and think "how the hell did I survive driving these uncomfortable cars". They ride like shit, the seats suck, and you need a 4 lane highway to make a right turn. What were they thinking. Worst of all they are a bottomless money pit.
But, they are cool as hell to own. Good luck in your decision on what to do with it.

I kind of get where you are coming from. I want one but I do remember what its like to drive old cars and it really wasn't that great. Like Matt was saying, the brakes suck and so do the suspensions and creature comforts.
If I do ever wind up buying a classic Muscle Car it will be a resto mod with the best of both worlds.

Im exactly where you are on this, I sold my Fox about 2 years ago and told my wife i wanted another car so i pick up my 94, and came to realize i dont really care to drive it, im just into it like i used to be. so now im selling the 94 and going to wait 5-6 years and pick up a 2011 gt.

What all have you done to the fastback? It always seemed like you put a lot of cash into it and the car looks very nice.
Roller 351w motor, TKO 500 with scattershield etc. Built 9", MSD pro billet ignition, small cage, putting some stuff back to factory. Alot of stuff. Suspension etc. I'm in a way hesitant to sell/trade it period. I really don't have to. I make enough to pay the bills as is, its paid off. But I really don't see me having a use for it at all. I don't really want to drive it anywhere, so it's just a moot situation. I said when I first got it, I don't care if it ever runs I just like saying I have it, and I realize now that, thats all across the board. However, if someone showed up with a 03/04 mach 1 or a 03/04 cobra i'd say bye.
I think its nice enough to hold on to for awhile.
You might not really care to drive it now, but wait til you get bored one weekend and end up spending all weekend roaring around in it and you'll get the kick again. Happens to me all the time with 95 (hence why I sold it and rebought it lol).

also, restomod ftw. thats what were aiming for in the 641/2 gonna be fun to drive, and look hella bad ass.
my 65 on the other hand, is nothing but period parts (besides the long block... thats for the track), and is why its not done yet... ive just now completed what ive set out to do with the engine/ trans. installed the completely new front end, and gutted the interior... all i need to do now, is build a decent differential, and finish body work.
