in okc, so im not sure if anyone has been watching the national news or anything but we had like 10 tornadoes touch down within like a good 30 mile radius in the last 30 minutes. Anyways so im driving down I44 ( 4 lane highway ) and i go to merge into the far left lane hit a patch of water slide across 4 lanes of traffic missing 3 cars and a good size bridge poll and into a ditch. Escaped with just mud in my new deep dishes. Could have died. haha

I've got a buddy of mine at McConnel AFB in Wichita, KS not too north of you, and he said they are in some shelter on standby right now..
I guess 2 tornados were spotted less than 4 miles from that AFB... And the good news is that that storm system is headed NorthEast,
right for us.. great..

I hate when people say this, it sounds so dumb. Yeah you almost crashed because of how you were driving, of course there was a reason.

yeah it usually happens when hitting a large amount of water at pretty high speeds, unless you're driving on inadequate tires. I've driven in a lot of rain at highway speeds and I've never lost control of a car and slid across 4 lanes of traffic into a ditch, never even come close to anything like that. :dontknow:

And you dont have to go that fast... it just needs to be enough water to fill the tread of your tires.

that's not always the case. I've hit a lot of deep puddles without hydroplaning. Like i said before it sounds like he was driving too fast for conditions. It's one thing to slide a bit but its another to lose total control of the car and slide back across the highway.

man, i remember the days of being in tornado alley. i moved away about 6 years ago back down to texas.

you guys remember the night about 10 or so years ago when like 60 something tornadoes touched down alone in oklahoma and the "F6 sized" F5 tornado hit stroud mall?

For those that don't know about it.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Oklahoma_tornado_outbreak

66-74 tornadoes that night with one being an F5 with windspeeds in excess of 319mph (old record was 268mph); so they contemplated adding an F6 scale tornado
