We'll see if he chimes in, but what you're saying is everything stock Cobra but a tune 260rwhp? I just find it hard to beleive. All my 5.0 experience says this is not possible, again stock 5.0 Cobra.

I'd be happy to hear the combo. I wouldn't expect anything over 240ish at the wheels.

Rich, back in 2006 My cobra made 253hp without the tune.

Mods were: 70mm TB, UDP's, EL Shorties, O/R X-pipe, MAC Produmps, and a CAI. The car ran excessively lean during the dyno pulls, so much so that the dyno operator was afraid to blow up the car.

After I made some fueling changes to the maps, and some nice tweaks to the timing tables, I was able to get the car up over 270hp.

Generous dyno? Maybe... but that 253hp was enough to get me a 14.02@101mph. Had I not shifted into 4th gear, I wouldve broke 13's.

Want better proof? Here's the link to the database at Bristol Dyno. http://www.bristoldyno.com/vehicles/Ford/Mustang/Varin_Keith/ Youll need to DL the run viewer. http://www.bristoldyno.com/programs/RunViewer7.0.1.0.zip

Interesting. But there was no aftermarket cam in there? 100% sure? And no portwork to heads or intake?

On the dyno, lean is mean. Also, all my dynosheets are set to Smoothing=5, that one looks to be a 3 or 1. I know the lower Smoothing #s provide higher dyno #s because they record the peaks on the line.

Either way there is no reason you should were running out of fuel with 24# injectors with a stock tune. My race car puts down 250-260 all day long with 13-14:1 A/F using 19# injectors.

Factory freak? Maybe. We had a dude in CMC with a 89 Fox, he made 230rwhp, UDPs was the only mod. Almost 200K miles, he was the original owner of the car. Crappy stock intake, stock heads, stock cam, stock exhaust, etc. I wouldn't beleive that either, 90% of stock Foxes barely make 200rwhp.

I never said I was out of fuel. The car was just running lean. Which is why I was easily able to push my AFR's down into the 13.5 range after I got into the map...and 15:1 WOT is not "mean" its ****ing dangerous.

So add in my fueling fixes, which also involved cleaning my MAF... and the timing changes I made, and the car most definitely ran ALOT harder.

And yes, that was a factory long block. virgin heads, OE cam, stock rockers, stock intake wasnt ported... etc.

It's strange that you even had to mess with a/f, the stock program should have no issues compensating for a exhaust and a t/b. But hey, that's 1 car. Would be fun to see if that exact power/situation could be duplicated in another.

Your dyno curve looks a little different than my GT40 geared 5.0. Biggest difference is your HP flatlines after 4500rpm, mine drops about 30hp to 5500rpm. Wonder if the t/b is a restriction on my setup. I'm using a stocker, but I can't change it unless it's an OEM part.

You can use just about any cam, but most of the guys are right, when you do a setup, take a weekend and do an HCI setup. I have heads and cam if youre interested!

Put a Trickflow Stage 2 in that bad boy! lol.

Does your class restrict you from swapping to a foxbody intake setup? If it doesnt, you could use a modded explorer TB.

I had a 65mm 93 Cobra t/b with a fox intake before I found a SN Cobra intake. I thought I could use the factory STB with the SN intake, but I found out it does not work. The explorer t/b is no good either.

Will a 4.6 t/b work? Or are they too different

Generous Dyno? MOST DEFINITELY. The track times and MPH tell the tale. My 135K mile, worn out, oil-burning GT with an Edelbrock intake, throttle body, gears, shorties, catted x-pipe, and mufflers ran 13.9 @ 99, and I guarantee it made nowhere near 250 rwhp.

Spending all that money on parts and not spending the extra $500 for a tune is doing yourself a great disservice. You'll be leaving power and drivability on the table.

Also, there is key on your keyboard between the comma and the forward slash, it's called a period. Learn it. Live it. Love it. Punctuation FTW.

I probably should've added that the run was on 3.08 gears and I had a 2.4 60' time.
