What do you all consider a reasonable labor charge for a 4r100 rebuild? Nothing currently wrong with the transmission but I want to put in stronger parts.

Per Hour? I think $50-75hr is fair but many shops are now charging 100-150 per labor hour... thats why I try to do as much as I can myself.

I was just curious because I will buy the parts. Someone quoted me $2900 with parts, but no valve body or converter and I'm not paying that. IMO $2900 is outrageous.

That is high, I was just emailing with Darrin @ BCAutomotive and for a fully built 4R70W with TC and bigger cooler it was @$2800 with a few hundred more for a multi disk TC. That included the trans and shipping!

That's not too bad. I found a rebuild kit that is good for 1000hp for $700. So id just need a few miscellaneous parts, plus converter and valve body to be good to go. I personally think anything over $1000 for labor is a bit insane. I would just have J.R. build it for me since I'm sure he would give me a good deal but Id rather have someone local do it so I don't have to deal with shipping.
