So i'm not trying to go super crazy with thw mustang but just want to put a little more pep in her step. I dont got alot of cash to blow as we are in the process if buying a new house. I was thinking of ths set up for my stock 95 gt 5speed but wanted your advice/ opinions. I was thinking some gt-40x turbo swirl heads, gt-40 tubuler upper/lower, 70mm tb, all ready have k&n cone but thinking of cai, i heard lunati makes decent cams, i know gears dont make you faster but will definitly help getting up and go, so some 3:73s i was thinking. I know i wont be the fastest thing out there but it would wake the tired car up. Thanks in advance for your time, advice, and opinions.

you may want to look at some different heads than the gt-40x turbo swirl heads. there are many heads that perform better, for cheaper. I would look at maybe a trickflow top end kit since your wanting an hci combo, it has everything you need and has proven results. Also very good on a budget.

also, i'd do gears first, i've heard that they make a big difference (still havent got mine done lol)

Dont fear the gear! best bang for you buck. It all depends on your budget, the TFS top end kit is great, if you can afford it, thats the route to go. I've not heard many good things about the turbo swirl heads, like said above, there are MUCH better heads for the buck. JLT makes some bangin CAIs. Lunatis are ok, but you're going to have to have a tune with anything bigger than e-cam, tfs stage 1, steeda 19 (GET A TUNE REGARDLESS). Just make sure you dont cut corners, there's building on a budget, then theres setting yourself up for engine failure.

Rhanks for your input it is much appreciated. I just ordered some 3:73 gears today so they are on the way. I have been reading up on some articles in past issues of mm&ff and they have been doing alot of testing on Patriot heads. I read a few post online and from what i have read they are pretty decent. Have u had or known anyone that has used these? I also have been reading up on afr. Alot of people prefer these over trickflow from what i read specifically the 165cc for a mild build if i recall correctly. Since i already ordered the gears, im thonking of doing another basic mod which would be exhaust. I have had flowmaster on one mustang before and was thinking about either borla or slp this time, any suggestions and/ comments? Again thanks for the help.

Patriot heads are a cheaper chinese casting from what I've heard they are very rough casts, and need to be cleaned up before they are run. If you have the money for AFRs get them. They are one of the best heads on the market, 165s are good, 185s even better. The 185s arent much more than the 165s and they are easily found used.

Exhaust is all about personal preferance, I dont like the sound of Borla or SLP on a pushrod car. They are too raspy for me. I prefer a Flowmaster 2 chamber (40 series). Has plenty of volume and a lot of throat. My exhaust set up is MAC shorties and off-road h-pipe (x-pipes just dont sound right on a 5.0 to me) and Flowmaster 2 chambers, full 2.5 exhaust, front to rear.
