The black rubber cylinder that goes in the middle of the spring. What is the purpose that this serves? Thanks in advance.

It's sort of a pinion snubber / bump stop from factory. It is also used to make linear rate springs progressive.

When the springs move a wave of energy moves up and down the spring this dampens that out, much like the damper spring on valve springs. If you have every seen one of those rides where you get strapped in this sphere. They wind you down which tensions very long sprrings then they release you and UP UP aadn away. Well watch those long springs and you will see that wave.

That's what I've heard. Maybe I'm wrong, but it does make sense, since that rubber sleeve is well with in the range of the spring compression.

From my understanding in a rage of fit trying to fix your car your dumb ass friend who knows nothing gives his 2 cents. It is there for you to throw at them.

My GT never had the rear spring dampeners from day 1. I think they went the way of the functional rear brake cooling scoops.

I don't think that even when the side scoops are open, you can really call them fucntional. All they do is just blow some air on the tire, and besides to cool off the rear brakes the rotors have to be vented in the first place.

And the tire is still in the way. Not that the duct is large enough or placed in a correct position to intake/move enough air to matter. My wife sneezing in the passenger seat cools down the passenger side air bag about as well as those "brake duct" cool the rear tires.

lol, nice

I was about to say, that there still no ducting leading towards anything. If anything, Ford should have addressed cooling of the front brakes before cooling of the rear brakes. It's in there mainly for looks, and once Ford realized that the open vent causes more drag and there decreases gas mileage, they closed it.

Ding. It would have been really nice to see a functional factory front brake duct system on the Cobras instead of the fog light package, or perhaps an option. It would have really made sense on the otherwise bare-bones, track-prepared 95R's.

Even those did not have. They removed the fog light due to what some believe was for brake ducting, but there was nothing there. It was the hardcore 00R which had the ducts

I belive it's to absorb vibration from the spring, could be totally off on this one but that would be my best guess. Maybe to keep noise down?

That's what shocks and isolators are for. I'm still fairly certain that those are factory installed bump stops sort off.

Shocks are to control spring movement, I was meaning something like a sound deadening device but it does make more sence that it would be a stop of some sort.

Mine has the front air duct system going to the front brakes in place of the fogs. I want to get fog lights though and take it out.
