ROYAL PURPLE!!! 5W-20. I get mine from American Muscle, shipped to my door for $45.75 and thats & quarts. Then I get me either a Ford Racing Filter for $10 or K&N oil filter for $12.

At 5k miles the oil still looks pretty good for all the in town driving I do with that car especially with the motor I have. One thing I did notice going from Castrol 5W-20 (i used during the break-in period for the new motor) to the 5W-20 Royal Purple is the engine when started up cold ran smoother until the engine came up to full temp and the damn thing runs smoother in my opinion. I know its because of synthetic versus reg. oil but for the price I get it I dont think I can beat it.

I looked the other day at O'Reilly's and Advance and they are getting now $7.50 a quart for Royal Purple or any Synthetic Oil!! bunch of crap!!!

I've been using Mobil 1 for the last couple years in my car and have had no problems at all.

Currently using Quaker State 10W-30 High Mileage. Pretty good stuff, it's not using nearly as much of this as the Mobil 1 I was running.

Will stick with QS or Valvoline high-mileage.

Just because an oil is clean after 5000 miles doesn't necessarily mean that it's performing better. Non-detergent oils look clean after miles but it's because they don't have the detergent additives to absorb contamination and dirt. But in the case of Royal Purple, they make good stuff. Just be careful with the "it's still clean yada yada" remarks you hear from some.

I use Mobil 1 5W-20 synthetic & Wix Filters.

well synthetics are not for everyday vehicles..there particles are smaller and you will see guys that run a synthetic have leaks or burn compared to a conventional..if you have issues with your engine a synthetic oil will let you know it

Ran Mobil 1 in my Mark VIII... 5000 miles between changes... never used a drop. The Mustang was ragged on before I got it, which would explain greater internal engine wear/oil consumption.

Sometimes, synthetic is OK. Other times, it isn't. All three of my dad's 5.0 Mustangs were switched to synthetic at relatively high miles and he never had a problem.

the best oil you can buy right now is mobil 1 or royal purple. and surprisingly motorcraft oil is one of the best you can buy too. castrol and valvoline are in the middle and pennzoil is way down at the bottom.

I use mobile 1 5w-30 and a mobil 1 oil filter.

wix, mobil 1 and the OEM oil Filter's are the only one's I've found so far that have check valves in them so they're the only one's i buy.

thinking about switching back to regular old motorcraft everything.

Oh, and for those that haven't found it out the hard way: Fram filters = garbage. Riding on a reputation from a long time ago, they are the worst on the market by FAR and priced higher than the others.

Motorcraft has good stuff. The filter is basically a Purolator PureOne filter element in their premium plus casing. I think the oil is made by Conoco Phillips, not 100% though.

I will agree with this statement! I have witnessed oil pressure loss (around 5 psi) at idle compared to using a good filter like Wix or the Motorcraft filters....swapped out the Fram filter for a Motorcraft and oil pressure went back to where it "should" have been.
