My friend has a 2003 GT with a UPR short-throw and a BBK CAI. He's looking for a set of good mufflers that will make his car sound better than stock and increase a few ponies. He wants to get the 40 series delta flows, are those the best for his car? Are there any others that are just as good but cheaper? I'd Appreciate any feedback!

No muffler is going to make enough difference to warrant the distinction of "better." Get whatever sounds best to you.

Mac cat-back all the way in my opinion. I have them on my 98 GT with the MAC offroad h pipe. The best exhaust sound I ever heard. All I do is get compliments on the way it sounds.

I have a mac pro chamber, and quiet like it.

Had Mac before and it sounds deep. but I hated the drone, and it's loud all the time....

I have a Mac o/r Prochamber, and Magnaflow muffler. The sound isn't overbearing at idle, but starts to growl nice at wide open throttle. Oddly, it sounds much better OUTSIDE the car than inside. I didn't realize this until I had my son drive it up and down the neighborhood road while I listened for an exterior rattle...

You are going to get 100 different answers. I have a Magnaflow O/R X pipe with Flowmaster 40's and it sounds killer. There is a guy around here that has I think Spintech mufflers with some kind of X pipe. Never talked to him but his cars sounds bad ass going down the road.

spintech are one of the most badass setups today, my frined has a gto 6.0 with spintech catback with cats and its one of the loudest out there. i am running a bbk O/R xpipe with a borla catback, i think it sounds awesome, but it kinda sounds like a gm, ppl say they can hear me from blocks away....but there are a million different types of convo..wat i did was go to streetfire.net or youtube.com and just type in wat u want to hear and see wat comes up!!

cant answer for you buddy. IT all depends on your buddies ears and his taste and likes.

have him look on youtube or streetfire for different tones.

Me, i hate magnapacks and borlas and tons of people love those 2 kind. Different strokes for different folks

but if hes set on flows than get original 40 since there the loudest.
Theres some new super 44 flows that suppose to sound good also, but i dunno. I had the original 40 on my car for 1 week and went back to mac flowpaths than dumped them and i got the best sound ever in my book.

You'll like the magnaflow's, just the right amount of tone :santa_smiley:

most guys on here (myself included) had gotten a cat-back as one of their very first mods...so to say "get some cams and make it fast" while good advise, is non-traditional. anyways i like flowmaster, cuz that's what i have on my 2v npi, but mac is great...don't care much for borla or bassani catbacks. think i'm gonna go w/ magnaflow for my cobra.

Lol, non traditional for sure, I'm aware. I already went down that road though, and trying top not sound like a dick... Why have a fast sounding car that is slow? Then people will pick on you with their Honda's and tell everyone about the "cammed, built up, modded out Stang" they put the hurt on. See my first mod was an SLP loudmouth, offroad H, 4.10's, and some suspension goodies, then I got my ass handed to me by a 240 sx, and it wasn't even turbo'd... My next mod's were head's and cam's, should have been first.

To each their own, I too enjoy the sound of a nice cat-back. Some people only like to show their car, some look it to look/sound fast, and still be stock and reliable. I want mine to be able to haul the mail when needed. Cams and a catback are nearly neck and neck cost wise, gear's are right there too.

I am rocking flowmasters. They came with the car. If I were to upgrade I would consider Bassani, MAC, SLP LM2's
