IDC about cost it's the end result that matters. This topic may be redundant but I just wanted to hear a few opinions.

My wifes 03 GT has a couple helicoil inserts already and for a few other reasons I am skeptical about the engine lasting if I just put on a blower like she wants. So I will be putting in a new factory salvage engine first. The end result for her car will be 400rw, that's all. Neither of us would feel safe/comfortable with more than that for her. She wants the Looks and attention more than she wants the power. I am wanting to install a 4v Mach1 engine before the blower goes on. She thinks it's a silly idea since she'll be at 400rw with just the 2v and doesn't like the idea of the extra cost.

My fear is that I'm just projecting what I've always wanted to do, onto her car. What do you guys think?

Maybe I didn't tell you guys, My wife says she doesn't like how lumpy my cams sound and how loud the car is so she didn't want my engine. LOL That made up my mind for me.

I decided to keep the car, finish it up right and then sell next year at a premium price. Then I'll buy myself a GT500 or something comparable.

Cams are the best part about american muscle...imo. Sucks to hear youre selling, but Im sure you could find a buyer. Not going to be a lot of people wanting to buy such a modded car, but you only need one right.. haha.

^ Agreed. I love loby cams that have good taste. I like the ones that have a nice loby, yet smooth idle. The rank .600+ lift ones with over 240 duration ones are stupid where the car sounds like it's misfiring :p.

LOL. Don't let yourself get ahead of yourself. Did I say that right? I'd go with your original plan and put the junkyard pi 2v in it with a small blower and be done with it. It will be reliable and have plenty of power for the street or occasional 1320 romp. Won't cost much to rebuild either. If you go putting a 4v in it I know you'll want to rip it apart and build it before you drop it in. I know from personal experience 4v's take jack to build. I had a built SH 4v 322 stroker in my old '97 cobra and the build was crazy money. But I guess either way you go it'll cost money. It's just a matter of how much you want to spend in the long run.

It's her nice weather DD. The Mach engine is going to cost $1k more w/ warranty. (not that the warranty matters) The extra 1k isn't really the issue and conversion is almost nothing. IDK, you guys are sounding more and more like my wife, lol.

That seems like "attention" was taken in the wrong way. Hell even my g/f wants a new Mustang because they look good, and because it's a
good feeling to know that something you like, others like too.

It may be what you want to put a 4v in her car, but if she doesn't want the extra expense, not to mention be content with just a blown 2v,
then why not stick to that, and save the 4v swap for something awesome for your self, like a fox.....

Bolt a vortech kit on and run it at like minimal boost. Theres really no reason to pull out a perfectly good running motor because you suspect that it will fail. Run it till it breaks, then put a new motor back in it.

My wife would also want the blower over the lopey camshafts. As well as an unsuspected quiet exhaust.
We met "street racing" 23 years ago so I think she could theoretically handle it but she tends to get a little too agressive with that kind of power.
It's a little un-nerving when we talk about our next musclecar buy which looks to be a 400 HP '05 or '06 GTO automatic. No, the '98 GT isn't going anywhere.

Meeting your wife street racing, that's awesome, lol. I met my wife at church and I was extremely surprised when she took to the car habit as much as I have. We've spent close to 60 grand in the last 4 years on my toys and to be able to finally spend money on a car that she can call her own project makes me really happy. She's wanted a her own car for a long time and she finally found it. The price was perfect which saved a lot of room for her first mods. So far she's already gotten K member, Coil overs all around, CC plates, O/R H, Rear U/L control arms and a Sniper tune. Suspension wise, her car is built more than mine and she hasn't owned it but 3 months, lol.

Although I don't mind being broke down once in a while, As much as any guy I expect it but I'll do everything in my power and wallet to make sure she doesn't get stranded. When it's her car, money isn't the issue, reliability & safety is. Thankfully the mod motor is easy to boost and to mod. IDC what the pushrod guys say, I'll take an ugly engine with a misplaced alternator over a bent pushrod and a leaky motor anyday, lol.

Give her your blower set up and go Turbo on your car.

That will get her to @400 she wants and will allow you to step up your plans for more hp.

Haha, I'm already making more power than I want, I can only imagine the trouble/Hp I'd get into with a Turbo on my car, lol. My car is getting a T-56, Built IRS, wheels, roll cage, new hard Tonneau cover and paint on the new bumper and side skirts. So my car isn't loosing out at all by building her car, lol.

For her car it's going to be either a KB or a SI trim. We're both rooting for the KB for ease of install and tuning but nothings decided. I'm going to do a compression & a leak down test tonight and see what we want to do.
