Chiron
[aka Gravy Train]

My, uh, camper puller work horse project?

I’d been kicking the idea of another 3/4 ton truck around for a while now. While casually browsing marketplace, I came across a cheap F-250 with a hurt engine for a good price.

Drove 1.5 hours to check it out today, ultimately bought it and have a clean title in hand.

Details and specs TBD

It does have some lower edge of the tailgate rust and both of the rear rocker panels need to be addressed.

I’m leaning heavily towards Chiron: The wisest and most powerful of the Centaurs. Since a centaur is half-man, half-horse, it’s the perfect metaphor for a truck that is half-Ford, half-Cummins.

1. I forgot the keys for the F250…in my F150 at my buddy’s house.

2. We had to pop the shift cable off the transmission to get it into neutral.

3. We connected the trailer to the seller’s F150

4. We attempted to winch the F250 on the trailer with the Gladiator.

5. We then disconnected the pitman arm to move the wheels which proved to be a real pain.

6. So… 2.5 hrs later, we had the truck on the trailer and tied down then we were underway for an uneventful, 2 hour ride home.

What a day but the truck has been secured.

Detail pics of the rusty rocker panels. Apparently, this is a common thing with the steel body Super Duty trucks.

Can't wait to see the old read 6.4 come out and get stuffed with a Cummins..... Gonna be sick brother. Any kind of time line?

Not entirely sure. If I wait to find and swap in a good ZF6 at the same time? Next year.

If I do the swap with the 5R110 and just find the rest on the side for later?

Couple months.. Leaning this way at the moment.
