You'd see bigger gains at the top end with other intakes, but as for low to mid-range power the gt40 family intakes are tough to beat (gt40/cobra/explorer). The Holley Systemax is a kind of middle ground between low-mid range power and the top end gains offered by aftermarket intakes.

The best intake choice depends on a variety of things, such as intended use for the car (normal driving conditions), the other inductions parts selected, cam, ect ...

The gt40 series is an excellent street intake.

So one person claims no gain, another claims slight gain, and yet another claims modest gain... I bet that guys confused... :D I dont have any experience with them personally. I wouldnt think its going to make a night and day difference but you should see some kind of gain. For a daily driver with occasional track time, why not? You could probably shake a little time off your ET if you get your shifting rythm down pat. Sloppy shifts can kill an otherwise good setup.

It will do a little, not to much, somebody already said it, but i'll say it again, it will kinda depend on your cam, and what wasn't mentioned, is how restrictive the stock E7TE heads are. an aftermarket set of heads, of even a set of GT40's and you will be able to tell a difference. If you're looking for cheap, get a set of GT40 heads, and have them P&P'd, new valves and springs, and have your Explorer intake Ported as well, take a Dremel tool, and open up the Throttle Body opening a hair more, and add a 65 or 70mm Throttle Body. you should feel a considerable difference then. it may not add lots of horsepower, and it may not make you a 13 second car, but it's the affordable buildup for people like me, who have other expenses that are more important(See Avatar)

I'm not lookin for a huge gain. I'm lookin to get back the 10hp from 215-225 like the foxbody. I read a article that the intake manifold is the many reason for the 10hp lose. I just what to run 14's, I'm on a budget I go to school, play baseball, Valet park, and try to have a social life. I just hope my top end get better and my car breathes a bit better. When i can afford to get heads more than likely gt40 heads off the explorer/moutaineer. I have the eblow neck off the explorer intake n TB which is 65mm how can I make the TB work on my car.

I'd like to pick me up some GT40 heads and an intake, but i haven't had much time to look. if i do get the heads, i'm sending them for a P&P job, plus new valves, and new springs, I'd like to run a fairly large cam, I'm also going to take the Cobra Intake to Steen racing, as i hear they do a good porting job.
I don't know about the explorer intake, but i know with my stock GT intake, the Throttle Body bolted right up. I'm in the process of opening up the throttle Body opening in an extra intake i have for the throttle body, to see if i can suck more air in, even if only a little bit. in that case, i'll just swap the upper intake with the new ported one, for the old one, then turn around and port the old one, and sell it.

I'll shave a bit of my TB, just cause I have a dremel so I figured why not. good luck with selling the old one just being ported I think some one will buy it so go for it.
