I’m interested in the SVE FR500 wheel set from LMR: 17x9 fronts and 315 rears but am curious about fitment. Are their 17x9’s inset more to fit that 275/40? I swapped mine from the rear to the front and it sticks out. I talked to LMR and they said it all fits. Just curious if anyone out there had any real world experience with this?

Depends on the wheel offset - it should be listed in the specs. I'm running 17x10.5 with 315 in the rear, and they don't stick out. They're pretty much flush. I've got 245 and 17x9 up front, they are slightly inset, but not much. Running OE Wheels Cobra R replicas.

EDIT: check backspacing as well

Ok, so the rears (315) fit. What’s the offset on the front 17x9’s?

They will fit. what tires did you get?
Well, I already have the 275/40’s on the back. So, I’ll swap those onto the new front wheels and I’ve already ordered the 315/35’s from “my guy” here in Moorpark. They are all Nitto NT555 G2’s.

I just barely got 305's in the back of my '94 Cobra by massaging the fender lips and gas tank. Only had a pinky finger clearance between fender well and gas tank

Also had American Racing LeMans wheels specifically made for the '94-95 Cobra, 11 inch rear width. 9.5" in front with 275s. A borrower rear wheel may allow 315s to fit in back.

Yikes! It’s gonna be close front and back. The 275’s will go on a 17x9 rim, not a 17x9.5.

My rear fenders are already turned, so, fingers crossed, the 315’s will fit as is, with quad shock reversed, or with quad shock removed entirely. And, I still have to height-adjust the new MM RLCA’s. Hopefully I have enough options to make them work somehow!

Keep ya posted this coming Tuesday/Wednesday!

If you look at the gas tank you will see where the two halves are welded together. I used a big pair of pliers to bend the edge down. That gained me 1/2" on each side. Even with the Global West LCAs totally eliminating side to side movement, I would still contact during autocrossing with the 305 rears. That's when I got a dedicated set of 275s front and rear just for autocrossing. The Goodyear GS-D3s were great in the rain but too expensive to wear out racing.

I had 315 17" for years on black bullet wheels and never had an issue. When I go the wheels used they came with sumitomo 335 and those would rub in sharp corners or big bumps but it was pretty rare really. There should not be a problem fitting those.

No fear of snapping the weld if you bend the corners down? How about gradually taking it down with a grinder?

nope! Doesn’t appear to be as there’s a full 1/2” gap between quad shock and wheel/tire. Still have to get the motor back in the car (this week) so it’s at full weight running order and then adjust the LCA’s for ride height. Check back with me in a week.

That’s awesome. I had my fenders rolled & need a BFH on the inside. In extreme corners, there’s some occasional rubbing but it’s fine for the most part.

275 fronts & 315 rear Nitto NT05 on FR500s
