Does anyone know of a reputable tuner (specifically email tunes)? I'm installing a 2.7 blower pulley and a mac prochamber. The pulley requires a tune (obviously). I'd rather not pay $7-800 for a dyno tune. Honestly, I think the price of dyno tuning is WAY too high. I've done dyno tuning. It's cake. It really is. Most, if not all, dyno shops require a hand held tuner which is normally incorporated into the price. I don't currently have one. I'm sure a half way decent tuner could setup a tune via email. Problem is, with all my research, I have pretty much been sent on a wild goose chase which leads to a dyno. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How are you going to upload the tune to the actual car? If you have a chip, the tuner can burn it without a handheld. Moreover, if you have a chip, do you have the hardware to burn it?

If you have neither, go with an SCT chip. Hand helds suck. Oh, and go to the dyno. My first mailorder tune put me above 13:1 AF in my 04 Cobra with a 2.76 pulley. :)

I had both mustangs tuned recently for ~470 a car, but I already had chips in them.

Being from Florida you should have ton's of places that could set up a tune file for you. Do a quick Google search of shops in your area with dyno's and give them a call and see what they can do for you. I would have to think anything NOT dyno tuned wouldn't be as accurate and as safe, but I could be wrong. I have a friend that does all his own tuning, but he mainly does turbo tuning, which I'm not sure if that's different than s/c tuning or not but the point is if he can do it i'm sure with a little research you probably can too.

If all else fails... There's always that pesky expensive dyno tune lol

the tuner who did my car would probably be willing do send you a diablo chip pre-flashed, if you're interested in that.

Really, my email tune was $60. yes yours would be more because it's forced induction, but I think they are in the $100 range. Dyno tuning you'd be right at $800 if you have to buy a tuner. Buying the tuner is the thing that kills, they all average $400. So you'd be about $500 in for an email tune if you don't have a tuner yet.

Aaron, let me know if you want me to ask my tuner if he can burn you a diablo chip.

FYI: keep in mind we are at high-altitude, I * grantee* he wont give you a warranty/promises/etc.

do you have a way to see or data-log your AFR? If not then I wouldn't do it. Email tune I got was barely able to limp me too the dyno and was so far off even though every option I had was in thier drop-down menu.

BAMA at AM. Tuning does not cost any more than the price of the tuner. And they can get you up to the point of truly requiring dyno tuning. So bigger blower, built motor.

for GTs the end would be built motors and centri SCs
Hell they even tune for nitrous up to a 100 shot.

Lund is good but there have been multiple occasions where the tunes BAMA provides has outperformed his tunes. Just saying. Im sure people on here will try and fight me on that lol.

Seeing the A/F / datalogging all has to be done using a handheld device. So if you dont have one or the software for it you arent going to be able to see it. Getting email tunes is not dangerous and if there is any slight thought it isnt running right, all thats needed is a datalog with the right PIDs selected so the problem can be seen. Then new tunes can be sent out with the problem corrected.

Honestly its not a big deal and is not dangerous. Every single basic 11+ GT and even 05+ GTs out there is email tuned. Or once was. Especially with the newer cars, almost every damn mod needs to be tuned for. And I know damn well if I owned one I would not be paying 300-500 for a dyno session for every single mod.
Saves a lot of money with newer cars up until the point of going to the extreme and adding FI.

I'll let you know Chris. I'm stilling doing research. VMP shows some promise.

And, I am, of course getting an SCT handheld. I need it whether I get a dyno tune or an email tune.

you have a unique combo that isnt seen all the time. least not by their standards. So if you had all the engine work you have done now. Of course that would be better on a dyno. But also timewise I would say they are a little more open to some things now. all depends though

but for him its fine..
