Well I think my stock t stat has been sticking and I was wondering If I buy a 180 t stat, is it just that simple as putting it in and forgetting about it? Or does something else have to be done to the car?

after you install it it's pretty much good to go, make sure you replace any spilled coolant and burp the system if u have to.

I ran 160 and 180 thermostat on my car. Stock longblock with no cooling mods at all. On the highway the car would run so cold, that it would drop below the "normal" operating range, and run rich. This cost me 3mpg on average. I ended up installing a Ford 195 thermo back in it, and that solved the problem.

when i had my cobra heads on my car, i went through 3 thermostats in 3 weeks. After those 3 times i used a fail-safe 180* and have had no problems in months. fail-safe ftw

i'm actually considering going up to a 195, because since i put on the aluminum heads the engine doesnt like to warm up, but i'm going to wait until i have my autometer water temp hooked up to mess with anything.

Cast iron heads will actually keep the motor cooler then aluminum heads will. So...

I have experienced the opposite, my car would get too hot if it was sitting in traffic or whatever, i got worried a few times. I'm glad i went with the 180...
