1994 Convertible Rear Drivers Window Regulator and Motor Part Numbers

Hi all,

Alas, the rear quarter-window has decided after 32 years it doesn't want to work any more. Sigh. I can hear the motor but not a lot happens and I have to encourage it manually.

Easiest solution (or so I thought) order a new one and fit - I've already had to change the drivers front and rear-right so it's not unexpected.

Problem - I can't find one!

I thought Rock Auto would be the answer, but unless I've completely missed it, I can only find the front ones.

Can anyone advise on what part number I should be looking for on the drivers side rear quarter window for both the regulator and motor (don't need the glass) and also a source that would ship to the UK?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

It's the same as the door ones in front of it. You just might have to cut a notch into the frame for the new motor to clear

Cheers - but I think from the symptoms (as I've seen them before) I need the regulator as well - find it's just easier to replace as a pair as I tried matching the motor only once and it just didn't work at all... Screw holes didn't line up and it just wouldn't work for me.

The bushings are fried. Replacing them is a very simple process. Open it up, clean it out, replace bushings, a little grease and reinstall. You can find the bushings on e-bay.

I had the same problem with my '94, I couldn't find a new motor for the rear windows. The early SN95s' rear window motors are different from the front ones. In later years they used the same front and back, as far as I gathered.
As picatinny said, you can fit the front ones, but you need to cut a small part from the chassis metal. I also had to reverse the wires, but not a big deal. I also had some problems with the screws. Check this post with pictures:

- The gear cover is plastic instead of metal.
- The case did not fit the chassis, so I had to cut out a piece from the chassis
- The stock screws didn't fit because the housing is slimmer, so I had to add spacers.
- The bottom screw had clearance issue with the case, so I had to grind down from the case
- The red and yellow wires were mixed up, so I had to reverse them

Other than this, it works well. I hope it will hold up at least.

The motor I bought from Rockauto finally gave up after only one year. That new motor felt less robust than the stock one, it used more plastic parts. I ended up buying a refurbished '94 rear motor from ebay. I would recommend you the same.
