1996 Radiator Changes

Okay, I'm hoping this becomes a sticky so it's an instant resource for us...

What *Exactly* are the differences in the 1996 cooling system from teh 1997-2004 cooling system?

Here are pictures of a Mishimoto 1996 Radiator, and a 1997+

Both of these are for manual transmission cars.
They changed the radiator from them 1994.1995 version to the 1996 version while keeping the same fan configuration. Then they changed botht he fan and the radiator in 1997.

What is going on here? What is interchangable? Will a 2003.2004 cobra radiator fit in a 1996 V6, GT, or cobra?


Anyone have any helpfull information on this subject?

Can a 1996 fan fit into a 1997+? will there need to be fabrication? What is interchangable on these cooling systems?

If you are going to do the radiator swap from a 97 or newer gt, cobra, you will need to do a few mods. OR switch out the core support. The fan assembly will switch out fine and help but the big help is when you switch the radiator also. The mounting pins in the bottom do not match up from the newer to the older cars and you have to do some cover mount moding to.
