So i just bought this cobra. Tonight i take my uncle for a ride down the interstate. i get it up to about 100mph then let out...when i pulled the car into neutral it jus died on me and turned off. I got it stared back up. Then i get to a stop light and it dies again. so we roll start it and it runs fine until the rpms drop.. I believe my alternator is shot....do you guys think thats what it could be?

Your Idle Air Control (IAC) sensor could possibly be bad and need replacing.
I had this same thing happen to me before and I had a clogged fuel filter
that really needed to be replaced. When I changed it light brown fluid mixed
with gasoline came out of the fuel filter.

Stupid IAC... had this happen to me when i first got my cobra.. only it happened at the drag strip in february innnn 14 degree weather.. that was not pleasant..

Ide say check that and the fuel filter... hell could be ur pump.. but i dont really hear of them going bad like that.

I doubt its your alt. But get it tested anyways.. Ruling out factors is always great. But i doubt that its that.

yeah, could be dirty throttle body, iac, bad plugs, wires, vacuum leak, etc. Too many variables to really tell you what to do. Just take it somewhere and get it fixed. It's usually cheaper in the long run by the time you parts change it into repair. jmho.

i dont remember typing "knocks like a sheep skin" lol but yea...i pulled the dipstick after my freind figured out what it was and it was bone dry...and then i screamed angrily, pulled my self together and did donuts in my sixxer...well he said spun bearing drink oil so i could have spun one and not noticed and it just kept fucking others up. What usually do you have to replace with spun bearings? Rods, crank and bearings i assume?

I don't think your going to like the answer to that question. Anyway, It's going to depend on the findings after tearing it down and inspecting it.

yep, you will need to tear the motor apart and take a look at it. when i spun a rod bearing, i could still use my stock crank and rods. when i dropped the bearing, i was 3.5qts low. and i checked my oil all the time. so i guess it finally just gave way.

You can find Mach motors for pretty cheap as well. I got my motor/harness for 5k. The total swap cost me about 7500 and 4 months down. Which is less then what you'd put in it rebuilding the motor and adding a blower/fuel mods. But I'd look for a used motor or maybe a Jasper crate motor.
