ok, another question now. i have a 98gt with 03 PI heads on it. im going to be replacing the t-stat soon. not sure what it has on it right now, i replaced it awhile ago with what i thought (and still think) is a stock t-stat. i bought it from ford and it came in the motorcraft box and all.

anyways, if you read my other thread i was talking about having overheating issues when i push my car to the limit for extended periods of time (4-6k rpms for 8-10 miles, about 10-15 minutes each time), so im thinking a 180 t-stat would be good for me, seeing as to how it also has higher compression now.

so what should i get?
195* (stock)
180*
160* (im thinking its too low)

i do have just about all the bolt ons, including u/d pullies (have had them on since may of 2003 and never had cooling issues doing the same extended high rpm runs), the only things im missing are headers and a catback.

which do you guys suggest, and what brand? does ford make a 180* t-stat for our cars?

Go with stock unless you have the fans set to turn on earlier and reflash/tune to benefit from the cooler temps.

180* t-stat will help it some. It will still reach the same operating temps but it will take longer to get there. Having your fans cut on earlier will solve that though, just like boomer said
