Have you guys/gals seen or even heard of this thing?

Based on the 2010 Mustang, the Cobra Jet is a factory-built race car intended for NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing. Ford will build just 50 of them, available in supercharged 425-hp and 475-hp versions, as well as three naturally aspirated engines, at the Mustang plant in Michigan. It gets a race-prepared automatic or manual transmission, drag-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes and an 8.50-second certified roll cage.

There's also a launch control/rev limiter that allows drivers to preset the rpm after staging the car; then all they have to do is mash the throttle. The car is available through the factory for 2010, after previously living as an aftermarket option. Other features include custom wheels, a unique hood and the familiar Mustang louvered windows. The snake decal is an option.

Production starts in January, and all cars are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2010. The entire limited run is spoken for, but enthusiasts can do their best to replicate this venomous new Cobra ? all the parts are available through the Ford performance catalogue.

this car is so underated to, thats whats funny about it its got a whippled ford racing crate motor which is rated 650hp if you look in the catalog and its in a light 3,000 lb race car only hence why its not street legal, Ive heard guys having been running 9's and 10's with these untouched, so the 425-450 crank hp rateing is bs, I bet it prob makes 500+rwhp. :nono:

I figured it was way under rated to only have that much hp and have a cage certified for 8.50's. I would guess that your hp prediction would be correct if not low.

you can order all the parts to turn a stock gt into a cobra jet from frpp and it will be street legal.

I got to see it in person (not in action, though) at the PRI show in Orlando. It looks great.

I was told by a reputable source that the way they got such a low power rating is that the throttle body only opens halfway when you get it from the factory.

i never really liked the way new mustangs looked after 1999. except for the 03' 04' terminators...

but this thing is just bas ass.

personally id rather have that 5.4 and the 4 liter whipple blower in my cobra, along with those rims and tires, then actually have the 2010 cobra jet itself.
