Have you guys/gals seen or even heard of this thing?
Based on the 2010 Mustang, the Cobra Jet is a factory-built race car intended for NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing. Ford will build just 50 of them, available in supercharged 425-hp and 475-hp versions, as well as three naturally aspirated engines, at the Mustang plant in Michigan. It gets a race-prepared automatic or manual transmission, drag-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes and an 8.50-second certified roll cage.
There's also a launch control/rev limiter that allows drivers to preset the rpm after staging the car; then all they have to do is mash the throttle. The car is available through the factory for 2010, after previously living as an aftermarket option. Other features include custom wheels, a unique hood and the familiar Mustang louvered windows. The snake decal is an option.
Production starts in January, and all cars are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2010. The entire limited run is spoken for, but enthusiasts can do their best to replicate this venomous new Cobra ? all the parts are available through the Ford performance catalogue.
