I'm getting mixed results about wether on a STOCK PI bottom end and heads, wether you need to degree the 270s for PTV issues to go away. Any help? coughjrcough? :hammer:

Yes you need to degree them, unless they were ground straight up (but probably weren't)

Head's, pistons, have no bearing whatsoever on PTV.

Mine were ground straight up. But i still degreed them. Turns out the stock gears were as followed. Lobe seperation on the passenger side, 112 drivers 114. The cam card called for 113. I was able to move the cam gera on the drivers side to get it to 113. ANd with an 11 inch wheel, that about as perfect as can be.

The comp. states that for the 270 and 278 (PI) cams, you need the behive springs and the stainless steal retainers they sell so that you won't have PTV problems w/ your block and the PI heads

pretty sure you could use the beehive springs w/ factory caps though? it'sa .550 lift cam setup, and they have those springs which are .550 lift only.

You don't need their retainer's, and I wouldn't use their springs either.

Right.. Because you never need to degree a Windsor cam? Are Windsors like made out of Lego's or something where everything just clicks together? If you find modulars "too technical" I have no idea how you could ever build a car of any type.

never said that. Most of the problem is the cost. And your barely cracking 300 on a 2v. Then you attempt to go 4v and get ass raped by all the nickel and dimes. No doubt you have to degree it all but its a whole hell of alot cheaper and easier to build the a modular.

I mean if you don't have much into your car, and it won't meet your goals, by all means, cut your loses and pawn it off. But you have to ask if your goals are realistic, and really breakdown the cost to every nickel and dime. I barely cracked 500 rwhp on a 2v, and I did the ass raping, not received.

I added the cost's up, and figureing to hit the goals I want, i would either need a 351w or an aftermarket block with a 5.0, it was cheaper to do the modular.

well a windsor motors not hard to come across (obviously), and small blocks are ALOT easier to turbo, slap in a upper and lower girdle, with some decent rods and pistons, a junkyard turbo on a intake and some 69 heads and your well over 500. It's not difficult, just time consuming. 500 dollars for a hot pipe kit for a 5.8 in a fox chassis, and then just make your own cold side, you dont need a K member, coilovers, lower control arms, and all that and have it stuffed under the hood. Modulars have great potential with a 4v, but i'll be damned if they are expensive, unless you really really really dig to find the parts. I have nothing against modulars, honestly i bought the 98 because i wanted to try them, I just don't think there my cup of tea anymore. Ive had 10-15 5.0 mustangs and trucks, all of which i've done heads and cam and a intake on, but modulars arent my cup of tea. I tryed :dunno:
