So after reading posts on another thread about the 5.4 swap and the fact my trans is completely screwed I'm thinking about setting aside the 5.4 for now and just doing the pi swap instead. I already bought a 01 expedition 5.4, new bearings and arp bolts so I'm stuck with it for now but I was wondering if I could atleast swap the heads onto my npi 4.6 since they should be pi heads and cams right? I will have to buy an intake still, any suggestions? I currently have a bbk offroad xpipe, flowmaster cat back, and 430 gears, I'm hoping to get it into the mid to low 13s. I never got to run the previous combo because on my first pass I broke the 3-4 shift fork power shifting it and I really just want to beat my buddies new ss camaro that only runs low 14s(poo). Any tips would be appreciated thanks guys

Thanks but I think when I start transmission shopping I'm going to look local first I cant imagine the shipping on that from california to pennsylvania. That and swapping transmissions suck so I'm saving that till the end of winter lol.

They will work.

The 5.4L SOHC (windsor) heads are exactly the same as the 99-00 GT's. they will fit any 4.6L. the only difference between them and the Romeo heads are the valve covers and the way the cam gear is fixed to the cam. neither of which will be a problem. a 5.4L intake will not fit a 4.6L.

i highly recommend romeo cams. cam gears are a bolt on affair. i recommend getting 11ish compression on the 5.4 with 2v heads. you can buy the engine rather cheap. only thing that will cost you the most is the right intake and fortunately its the hps hardballer. theres a boat load of links.

Im not going to put the 5.4 in my car now im going to hold off on that for now. I was just considering using the heads and cams.

I know I can't use the 5.4 intake, I just was wondering if I should use a different intake besides the plastic 4.6 pi one.

No, the pi plastic one is pretty damn good untill you start moving a lot of air at like 6500+ rpms.

Im selling my PI intake if you need one by the way
