I was just curious to how much gears actually helped everyone in the 1/4 mile.

How much of a differance would there be going from 3.73s to 4.10s in a auto 96 gt?

Anyone switch from 3.73s to 4.10s and see an improvement?

lol i just happened to click at the right time.. and i'm a strong believer in automatic with 4.10s.. well the thing is with 3.73s your not going to have as much trouble off the line like i do sometimes, simply because i spin more. 4.10s is better if you have a stall speed, where as 3.73s are better if you are going to stay bone stock 5 speed/auto and not do much more. If your like me and eventually plan on a stall/5 speed swap, 4.10s all the way.. simply because your 60ft times will be a great deal better and alot of times a race is won off the light, unless your car pulls at half track

Yea..only problem is I just installed sportlines and I dont really get traction with street tires..Id probably be better off buying a set of slicks or drag radials.

get the 410's I have had TWO GT's with automatics in the sn body style .....a 96 and most recently a 98 and BOTH of them had the 410's put in. ITs day and night between the two, its going to be one of the best mods you can do. You can cut a few TENTHS off your 1/4 mile time not to mention the SOTP feel :)

yea...but I doubt its enough of a differance to spend the cash on it.

Im thinking about nitrous at this point...stupid 2v 4.6

My dad believes that nitrous is the devil or something....but if its tuned right and I only run 75-100 shot i would imagine I wouldnt have any problems right?

shit, if i wasn't going to get it tuned I would run 100 shot. If your getting it tuned for the nitros step it up to 150 shot. Thats what i'm looking at for the 4v i'm putting in. you might want to stay around 125 though, i've heard of no problems with that much... just make sure to get all the safety stuff.... fuel pressure switch, window switch, WOT switch, so on and so fort. Keeps from killing the motor and more often than not... the intake. lol.

3.73s would be fine with a 5speed.. theres only a couple hundred rpm difference between 4.10s and 3.73s with a 5speed

I hate my 3.73's... and then again it's only about 200 more rpms if you have 4.10 vs 373's..

I have 4.10's and the only way I am changing them is when I go to a built bottom end with heads and cams and change to a d1sc. I will still keep the 4.10's but something tells me they will be to much and at that point But I will have to see once I get to that point.

If I recall correct, I run 2400rpms at 70mph with a TR3550 and 3:73 gear. I think around 2500 was 75mph.

I run 8.7's in the 1/8 mile and 13.5's in the 1/4 on stock 17's.
