3 codes pulled

hooked my 95 gt up to the code reader and pulled 2 lean codes and 1 egr code... previous owner welded the egr pipe were it connects to the mid pipe on the car... car runs 12* on 93 and i get 21mpg...also lets say i am on the highway coasting down hill in third gear and jump back on the pedal the car jerks around like it loads up with fuel then cleans out and takes off... do i have anything to worry about?

What EGR codes did you get?? A faulty EGR can do lots of damage to the air/fuel ratio, so yes a EGR can cause the lean mixture. Depending on the EGR code, and the fact that there are O2 sensor lean faults, I'd suspect a vaccuum leak on the EGR circuit. Get a vaccuum pump and test the EGR vaccuum port and the circuit which can be done by checking vaccuum at the air pump vacuum port..If that circuit does not hold vaccuum your EGR will be open causing a lean mixture

How long has it been since the O2 Sensors have been replaced?

When I was having problems with mine, I had codes reading I was running too lean on both banks and whenever I would jump on the throttle black smoke would come out of my tail pipes. I changed out the Oxygen Sensors with Ford Motorcraft brand and it fixed it. 94-95 Mustangs have very sensitive computers and if your O2's are not working properly your computer will flip the hell out!!!
