And a Ford to lead them...
33kbsqt.jpg

Did some instructing this weekend. Some BMW dealership had free invites for their customers, so the field was full of M3s, M5s, M6s, and a whole bunch of other madness. Giant beginner group was split up into two between 14 instructors. Some were cool, and followed instruction well. Couple were being douchebags, and were shown the exit gate. All in all a decent group. Second day was just a regular track day filled with the usual array of STi, Evos, S2ks, and other cars present at the track days as usual. A few of my buddies showed up with APR Stage 3 S4s, which were ridiculously fast in straights, but not all that impressive in the corners. Needed better tires in my opinion. Two more of my buddies showed up with Contour SVT and ex-Bondurant Crown Vic. Red slammed mustang was nowhere to be seen...

Another shitty cell phone picture. I will upload more as soon as I have them.

ps: is that a fox bringing up the ass end of them?

No, we were doing the lead-follow sessions, where we take out like 3 or 4 cars behind us, and show them the race line, and how to pass and stuff like that. Fox behind me is an Agent 47 car, driven by another instructor. His name is Ryan Walton, this was the first time he was instructing with us. It's the same guy who set a whole bunch of AI track records.

I really really would like to sling my car around a track. I've been considering taking a class like that, but theres not really anywhere here to do it... it was an idea for my senior trip haha. One day, one day...

Hopefully sooner than later, right? You've got a good car to start in. I believe that before anything else, a good track car has to be reliable and dependable. If you can't put your faith in your equipment, then don't race it. I did not have a dependable car until I bought my mustang, so the first time I tracked a car I was 23. I tracked it stock. It was soft, slow, and did not stop very well, but it brought my back home every time, except once when I blew the radiator hose on the way home, and had to call flat bed to pick me up.

I'm pretty confident in my car's dependability, I'm planning on going on the Power Tour and I just added up the miles, and I'm looking at a little over 1500 miles in a week. The only problem is there aren't any road courses around here, and theres not any real way for me to get to one. I will one day, and sooner would def be better, I've just got to find a track that I can actually get to on the weekends.

It's not a road course but...

I'm planning a little local car cruise for this Spring. Trying to get as many of the local Mustangs in it as possible. A little something involving Lawrence and possibly Lincoln counties.

Cool pics. I must have the M6. Me wants it.

The "Cobra Vics" are cool. I took the four day Grand Prix class at Bondurant. Those Cobra Vics have swaybars as big as my wrist. LOL I think it would be cool to have one as a daily driver.

Paul.

Nice pics, that contour looks like a fun ride.

Yeah, my friend bought that contour svt for 1800 dollars. It was a little rough at first, but the important things were in good shape, so we picked it up. He went on to get 03 Focus SVT wheels with PS2 on them, Koni shocks, H&R springs, and new bushings and tie rods front and back. The car is pretty fun to drive, and it's good that I got him to come out with us to the track.

The bimmers made mustang look like a piece of turd. No joke. Just about every car there was capable of running faster lap times, due to better suspension, nicer engines, and better chassis. This was a giant beginner group however, so they were lacking the skills to do anything spectacular. I need to get better tires on the car, because I'm still on Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs. As soon as they wear out, I will get some MXs, then we'll see what's what.

If you want to roll out and do a track day with us, SpeedTrial is hosting another streets of willow event in February. Pretty good reason to come and hang out, right?

Yeah, the sway bars on the crown vic looked massive. The whole car overall was pretty well done up. Looked like it had some pretty exclusive bits and pieces here and there, and everything was clean. The only thing I did not like was how close the roll bar is to your head if you are using stock seats. I went for a ride in it, and I hit my helmet on the roll bar several times. Not a good daily in my opinion.

was that porsche in it as well?

POC (Porsche Owners Club) rented big willow for that weekend. GMG trailers and 6 figure cars as far as the eye can see.

I love BMW's to death. Especially M3's and M5's, it's something so secret agent-ish about them.
