Well the engine in my 94 Fauxbra convertible is just plain tired. Me beating on it constantly for 140k miles and it's on its last leg. So looking through all the recommendations for Fordstrokers and speaking with Jim (who by the way him and his wife were 2 of the most professional and genuinely friendly people to deal with, that's how you run a business) I decided to have them do a 408 on a hydraulic roller factory block for me. I am still a little unsure of what cylinder heads I am going to have them put on it for me I was originally going to go with a the TFS 185's as speaking with Kooks for headers they told me I needed to use a nonraised exhaust port head. Well doing a little more research Accufab told me no problem they will build the headers to suit my engine. Being as I have never really looked into the raised port heads before what are the benefits and what are some of the heads you all would suggest? The rest of the induction system will be a carbed Victor Jr. intake and a Demon carb with the Accufab 1 7/8" with 3" collectors 3" x-pipe and 3" MAC catback.

Other little tidbits for the car I bought are a new Cobra brake kit for the front and a Dugan Racing System 6F as the factory suspension is shot. I also this summer put 3.73 gears in it which I just yesterday ordered a new posi and some 31 spline axles for it. I also have a Ford Cobra R hood on it with 03 Cobra 18x10 and 18x9 wheels on it. I'll also be ordering an MSD 6A-L and an MSD distributor and coil. I was thinking of going with the SPEC Stage 3+ clutch. So a few questions I have is what all would you think about the fuel system (and yes I have read the carb swap sticky)? I am thinking of this kit from Jegs http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/100804/10002/-1?parentProductId=761038 my question falls into what to do with the pickup on the car. Would you tweak any of the items I'm planning on ordering? Lastly what are your HP estimates depending on which heads I go with? It's definitely not a DD, more of a fun weekend car that will get a road race or 2 per season.

+1 on Fordstrokers.com, they kick ass. too bad I didnt send my engine to them, the local machine shop is slower than a Camaro.... lol!

You dont make as much power with the old raised ports as you will with a more modern head design, IE the TFS fast as cast 190cc or similar. I really like my twisted wedge heads, they make great power, and I havent found much that outflows them at .500 lift areas.

I would probably go with a TFS185 or the TW fast as cast 190cc, a big cam and a new 408 bottom end, it would be a nice street motor that would hold its own on the strip.

raising the port increases flow

my heads are raised .125" and i have not had any issues with 3 different set of headers. everything depends on the amount raised but you should have enough play

185 is a bit small for a 408. i would be looking at 225s

AFR 225's There are plenty of 408's with AFR 225's making around 500HP N/A.

Brodix or Edelbrock Vic Jr or Vic Jr Glidden Series heads are awesome as well :headbang:

DO NOT put 185's on a 408. Trickflow 225's all the way

Supposedly these numbers were all tested at 28 Inches of Water @ .600 :dontknow:

I have no idea how accurate these numbers are so take them for what they're worth..

AFR CNC 225cc - 323in/248ex

Brodix T1 Race 225cc - 312in/220ex

Edelbrock CNC Vic. Jr Glidden Series - 355in/238ex :notworthy: Holy Sh1t..lol

TFS CNC 225cc - 316in/231ex

I think these are the heads I'm gonna go with in the 225cc ported version
http://www.totalengineairflow.com/products/fordhead/tfshiport/
Ford strokers will be building it completely from carb to oil pan, flywheel and valve covers. Looking to have the rev limiter set at 6500 to ensure a nice long life for the engine and try to shift around 6300. Basically add water pump, headers, ignition, hook up fuel system and go. I'm hoping to hit at least 550fwhp as I previously had a 380rwhp 383 LT1 Camaro that while quick was frankly not as powerful as I wanted. Do you all think the cylinder heads and other mods listed will meet the goals I have set, everything looks good, but looking for some real world knowledge of it.

No no specific wants besides meeting my power goals and the AFR 225's will actually save me a little money. I think maybe another call to Jim is in order with my goals and what they can do with the AFR's

Well a little more saving is going to be in order as I will be going with the AFR 225's and decided to go with the DART block as I want to build it once and build it right. This build has quickly gotten out of hand cost wise.

Dart makes good stuff, curious why you didn't go with a Boss block instead? :dontknow:

Since your getting pretty wild with it, I personally would talk to one of the custom cam guys, Jay Allen @ camshaft innovations or Ed Curtis@Flowtech inductions.

I have personally used Jay's stuff and was blown away, top notch stuff and it man did it perform.

A custom cam will be done for the motor of the HR variety, that was a given from moment 1
