Fired it up. VERY hard start; wouldn’t stay lit on its own. Started second-guessing my wire placement on the distributor. I know the firing order is
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Just want to make sure I’m on the correct post with the #1 wire?
This is a new MSD cap & rotor. The cap has a locating notch so it can only fit on one way. But… I noticed the embossed MSD logo is oriented upside down. Does this change the location of #1?

Thanks for help!

Yes that’s the correct firing order. Did you pull the distributor when you removed the intake? You’ll have to reset base timing if you did.

Edit: I just saw your new post. It’s likely not an issue with spark. Your fuel lines probably have air in them.

i would start by pulling the #1 plug and checking to ensure you are at TDC but as you said it is not in the correct place if it stopped at TDC. Rotating it till #1 is at that spot may help, again assuming that it is at tdc now.

I don’t know if it’s at TDC or not, so I guess (?) the only way to find out is to reattach the wires in the correct firing order, try starting it up and see…

it is not the only way but it is the easiest again assuming it is stopped at tdc. Finding tdc does not take much and I think it would be worth the time. Youtube has vids how.

gosh I have learned so much from there from cars to operating my laser...... Sure this is the net and just like any site you have to be able to pick out the bs but I was just using it to help me install a heated steering wheel in my DD.

Same here, Scott. Next to the help and expertise of this Forum, YouTube has been a HUGE help to me: car stuff; landscaping & irrigation; house painting; etc. Like you guys, a seemingly endless wealth of information. And you get pretty good at spotting the bs. Cheers!
