4R70W issues: HELP

Its hard to say without knowing exactly what its doing...Im still not sure what its actually doing.

Does it shift through all the gears fine?

Did you ever check the shift position sensor on the side of the trans?

I had my direct clutch burn up but it was pretty much an on/off switch.

Worked on minute, broke the next.

The car would neutral bomb itself when it went to shift past 2nd gear.

If the clutches were burned up it probably wouldnt shift into the next gear at all.

I had a chance to go home this weekend, and drove the car again for a quick moment. I orginally thought it was a delayed 1-2 shift but after counting, it appears the car will shift out at about 2800-3000 and go from first to third. The only thing I can think of is it maybe be the solonoid but I doubt it. Also, I found a built 4R70W out of a 99GT. Any way I can make it work for my 97GT?

Lol, 1st to third huh....I didnt know that was possible.

Yes, you can make a built trans from a 99 work.

You may have to change something to make it work with your old style speedometer though, 99 used electronic I think.

Thanks for everyone's advice especially from Justinschmidt1. The clutch pack for second gear was burned out, so I had a local trans shop take care of it. The tech who worked on my car, owns three mustangs with AODE/4R70W and upgraded all the parts along with him doing the Jmod. I am hoping to pick up the car tomorrow. Also, a lot cheaper then the dealership
