Hey everyone i'm new to the board, just picked up a '94 Cobra on monday. from what i've seen on the car it's a stock motor with a few bolt ons. I have a bit of valve train noise and was planning on installing new lifters next week. I read somewhere (can't remember) that the '94-'95 Cobra come stock with 1.7 RR's,and wanted to know how true this was...is the stock cam a roller cam???? thanks in advance

Yep crane cams 1.7 rr and a roller cam!

+1

also came with gt40 iron heads (they're stamped GT40 so give it a look to be sure), hyperpathetic pistons, valve covers say cobra, cobra intake, 24 lb injectors (blue), stock throttle body is still only 60mm (same as GT), and the block is a roller block. the block stamp is generic so you won't be able to track down where it came from exactly, only what year it was built like from 86-95 or something.

The GT40 heads are stamped with a GT mark, not GT40.

There is nothing wrong with Hypereutectic pistons. There are actually advantages to them compared to a forged piston. They have much better ring seal and considerably lighter so they move a lot faster.

yeah you're right about the GT stamp, i looked at the pics of the heads that i'll pulled off my car from 3 years ago.

as far as hyper pistons go:

"You can wash a turd, wax a turd, but in the end, it's still a turd"

yeah it's true they can handle some abuse, they're great for a bolt DD car. you can even put boost and nitrous on them. just be careful and know that there are limits to them. mine started to come apart on me wich is why i rebuilt my engine, but it was my fault my tune wasn't right for the nitrous.

then if it was your fault then they're really not turds! you just treated them as if they were

Before you go buying stuff pull the valve covers off first and check things out, it could be something as simple as the bolt that holds a rocker to the pedastal has loosened up a bit, very rare but these things happen. Always investigate and find the problem before you buy stuff.

Also, yes 5.0 Cobras come with 1.7 Crane aluminum roller rockers. Sorry though, they're no longer in production, so finding them is going to be an absolute pain, I got mine just before Crane folded up.
