Sorry if this thread don't belong here you can move it if you want :)

I just bought my Mustang back after forced to sell due to a divorce and the guy took off the 17x9 svt cobra's and put 18x9 up front with 255-40 and 18x10 Fr-500 with 275-35 in the back. Car has been lowered with steeda springs that being said as we all know 17's are easier to find then 18's espiecally 315-35! I have searched and looked everywhere for tires or maybe going back to 17's but im to undecided.
Guys help me out here I have a 1994 Gt I want 315-35 or 30 what do you guys think look the best? Im not dragging the car so no drag tire just a weekend driver. I want beefy sidewall and I really want to try and keep the 18's and put 315's on the back. Taking suggestions for the front, thanks guys! Im 33 have had lots of stangs and really want to take time and make this one count.

Depends what brand you go with. A BF Goodrich or Kumho 295 will typically run just as wide as a Nitto tire. Sumitumos also run pretty narrow.

If you really want wide and beefy, Toyo Proxes come in 315/35/18 I believe. They are drag radials so you should be fine running them on the street for a weekend car.

Here we go people telling you to go with a 315 that have no idea. Listen to whoever you want. I've been through this probably 5x in the past week about tires sizes. Tire manufacturers recommend wheel widths for there tires for a reason.

There are engineers behind company's.

295/35/18 bfg kdw2 as Ferocious said is a great tire. Has a nice width to it hooks great. Some people say it gets a little loud when it starts to wear. I only ran some for a couple hundred miles.

You mentioned wanting a beefy sidewall. I don't really recommend it. Bc of the size and height but Falken does make the Azenis in a 295/40/18 I have it on mine and I love the piss out of it. Hooks amazing rides great.

The classic tire width argument...
First off, the tire size recommendation is a RECOMMENDATION, not a REQUIREMENT. Dont get that mixed up. That being said, yes it would be wise to stay close to the recommendation. The tire engineers know what they're recommending.

That being said, I think 315s are too wide for a 10 inch rim. If you do the conversion, 315 is over 12 inches. Yes, each tire will have different actual width. But still a rather large difference.

I'd go less than a 300. A 285 or 295 will look plenty wide enough. Also don't go too thick, I think that'll cause the most issues.

yep classic width argument no one ever does #'s

1/2" taller on mine bc I saved 500 bucks. Have they caused issues nope. I also read up and talked to a few guys that ran 40 series on a few of there 03/04 cobras and GT's

that being said I wouldn't suggest anything higher at all then what I have run. People have had issues with 295/45

sleepn_sn95 first off your car looks so badass with the gold! Its black like mine so your set up actually gave me an idea yesterday cause I zoomed in on your verdesteins and the front Achilles they look great.

I have no personal experience with them but have read a lot of great reviews on khumo exsta xs's. Also r888's are a great tire depending on what you are using the car for

Im seriously thinking 295 40 cause my car has 275 35 and there is not much height there on sidewall actually the fronts are 255 40 and they look taller. I want the back to look taller and wider. So a bfg?

Here is a 295/40 rear. 265/35 fronts Falken Azenis RT615 this should help with your decision.

if I hadn't found a deal on these I would have gone BfG Kdw 2 or Vredestein 295/35 in both tires.

295/35 is the better tire to meet the way our cars are programmed. Some people have found that the 295/40 has caused there ABS light to trip and stay on.
