Hey guy,
I have a 95 mustang cobra with a b303 cam, bbk headers, and Msd ignition.
About a month ago I was coming home and messing around with a friend in the highway, we made a couple pulls and noticed smoke under hood, pulled over and coolant had blown through the overflow cap. I replaced the thermostat thinking the old one wasnt
opening. The new themostat is a stock 195.

The other day while messing around again the same thing occurred.
im not sure if I need a 180to thermostat, or if its a different problem, please any ideas would be appreciated.

Timing chain cover gasket, I just had this happen to me I noticed the car leaking on and off for about 6 months just at times and I could not find out where it ame from.
finaly one day I went into the garage and antifreeze was everywhere so I got underneath the car and found it was leaking from the cover.
It was a pain in the butt to fix take all the crap off the front of the motor and a bolt broke off in the block just be careful if that is what it is .

The car is rising up high in temp but never overheats, I just flushed the system of coolant, and while burping it the coolant was foaming, so im guessing its a head gasket

There is a similar thread about this that caught my attention on another forum. I had the same issues but only at extreme times when I would go WOT in say 3rd gear at say 70 and would stay into it for a bit....

It actually scared the crap out of me because the first time it happened it came through the heat extractor on the driver side and went all over the windshield.

I started with thermostat, still did it, replaced with another used cap, still did it, replaced with new cap, still did it, replaced or with another used overflow tank, same....

I started thinking about other possible fixes, replaced water pump (with the Mezziere electric) thinking that maybe due to the excessive instant torque that the 3.4 Whipple produces that it produced to much pressure. At the same time I also upgraded the stock tank to a Canton. The problem is gone!

Now I said all this because I can not narrow it down since I did the pump and tank at the same time, I however thought it interesting that the other thread mentions many issues with the stock tank suffering from warping issues, where the mouth of the tank is not level or flat causing issues no matter what cap you out on top.....

Hope you find your solution soon!

Mine also only blows out the overflow when under extreme pressure like 2nd gear pulls to 120.

if your using the stock gauge it will be hard to tell when it overheats. I saw my car on the dyno having issues and to the point it was pulling timming to cool it and still didnt show more them hot on the stock gauge. The stock guages are dumbed down pretty bad...
