why would you want to DD a car with no creature comforts?

I don't need any comforts on my daily work commute since its only about 15 mins of highway and exits to/from work so I usually find myself with the radio off and spirited driving mostly.

Now on my long distance family cruiser I do require a little more than the basics.

I hate to see cars like this one, that were build to road race sitting in "Climate storage" :angry4:

BTW, in that pic there is a 94 indy parked next to it, and a 00 Cobra R parked behind it :angry7:

2008:

I always see the two parked next to each other. Then again, the coordinators may have put them there every year on purpose. Both Cobra Rs are always displayed in plastic with memorabilia and sometimes wheels removed (to display wheel well cleanliness).

By the way, you see the blue car behind it? Completely stock, just bought it that month... ...of course it won (notice all the other trophies its won in such a short time - and yes there are that many shows) See a little bit of red behind the blue car next to the man?...

...Never ever wins at that event. Still a blast to go to, but their "street driven" category is kinda bull. I end up losing to specialty vehicles that have 10 times less miles than mine. Due to the points system, any after market piece that doesnt line up correct, any paint chip, any kind of signs of actual "use" gets deducted even on "street driven" cars. Their definition of "street driven" is any car that drove there (could have driven off a trailer in the parking garage) and does not have any mirrors displayed under it. If I had used mirrors to show that my side skirts were clean, it wouldnt be considered street driven. Thats ok though... ...this year Ill get to display my scanned & framed congratulations letter and $1000 check I got for Duplicolors Restoration Challenge.

So thats 2-3 95 Cobra Rs Ive seen at just one event. I remember seeing 3 94 indys in one place, but they made 1000 of those, not 250!

Anyway, heres what I love about collectors like these:

Guy spent $57,599 that $4607 8% sales tax. No wonder he never titled it... ...ran out of money.
Ok so $62,207 in 1995 money.
With inflation that would be about $86725 today
Sold on ebay for 25,250 (the MSRP for a 95 cobra convertible)
ebay 10% fee: $2,525
So $22725

So assuming that he doesnt have to deal with paypal fees or anything else and and assuming he bought the car in 95. He pretty much spent $39482 having it take up space in his garage, occasionally trailering it to shows. And to think, that little red car in the other pic above got to be enjoyed all its life... ...and STILL be put up on a pedestal. Sadly, sitting for so long, I wonder if it seals are still good from never being driven. Its always already there at the show by the time I get there. I think they come the night before (best time for trailers to enter)

That last white Cobra has 98 Cobra wheels and what looks like maybe a Cervinis R hood and dark interior, not a real '95 R...?

You talking about this one?

How can you tell? It could have black, could have saddle. I cant seem to find any other pics of that car, but I was there, and considering that it was parked in the 2nd spot from me, thats something that I would have thought that I would have noticed. Im pretty much the only aftermarket car at those shows. Plus cervini hoods have smooth gel coats on the underside as opposed to the fiberglass look (not sure if that can be seen). And Cervini embosses their logo. Its been a while since Ive seen their version of cobra R, but it would have been visible from the pic. And the wheels look identical to all the other wheels pictured (except mine of course)

It also could be the same car as pictured in the 2005 photo (2nd to last) but I cant tell since I cant read their show card or plate. Plate bracket is the same though, but the "corral" is different. But as you see the 2009 corral covers more than one vehicle, which sometimes happens when other enthusiasts share. It actually corrals 4 vehicles excluding me and the navy fox body Im next to... ...meanies :)

The wheels aren't the same but 98 Cobras and 95 R wheels are similar. The '98 Cobras have more of a bow to them and an extra lip around the rim. Also see how the hood has 2 skinny slots for the cowl induction, the real R hood has one large hole just on the drivers side as seen in the other pic you posted. The interior definitely looks black too and 95Rs only came with saddle cloth.
